Messenger push notifications not working after latest update (v5.0)

so guys i updated Facebook messenger v5 but after the update app become mega slowww and also the ush notifications are not working. i uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. the problem of messenger being slow got fixed but push notifications aren't still working. i wonder if it's a problem with anybody else of u guys out there.

Push notifications are also hit or miss for me too. And since I reinstalled it to fix the slowness it is missing the usual settings in Battery Saver.

i wonder that when are we going to have equal quality apps in windows phone. why do wp users have to suffer. we have no alternative since fb chat is no longer available in messaging hub.thanks to wp 8.1. but pls fb fix it once and for all

I'm having the same problem. My Mrs has not however, both on wp8.1. I have a 630, she has the 625. Very odd, uninstalling and reinstalling didn't work either...

that's a code problem in messenger i think. when u open battery sense there is no option to
allow messenger run in the background. thus it shows that functionality of background running is not at all present in messenger.
