I know there's a lot of hype over the 940/940XL, but if Microsoft were to release the 840 with Update 2, an improved camera, and a higher end processor (maybe a Snapdragon 615), would it be enough to get you to upgrade? Or would you hold out for the true Windows 10 flagship(s) to arrive?

if the Price is right for the 840 then yes. Otherwise I go for the next flagship.

Right now I have the 830 and love it.

I'm actually hoping for an s620 for the 840, even if it means it will be delayed by a few months. That would truly make it an affordable flagship. If MS wants to release a mid-range phone before that, a 740 would do great with an s615. That being said, I'm going to try keeping my 830 for two years, assuming that my stingy side wins over the side that wants new toys...

My only question is whether there will be a true midrange phablet. The 640XL is nice, but I'd like a 5.5" version of the 840 if possible. I hope the 740XL ends up being a sleeper hit....otherwise I may just end up with an 840 anyway.

My only requirements for the 840 would be:

1. An SD615
2. A price tag of $399. $449 was overpriced when the 830 debuted.

They could keep everything exactly the same, and I'd happily be on board (as long as these two things were there).

It's probably too soon to see SD620 show up (even though that would be amazing).

I have a Lumia 830 also. The biggies for me are will it have the latest version of what ever SD chipset and processor (MS is listening unlike Nokia). And, will it get continuum when Windows 10 comes out. I'm done with US carriers and will save up for one of the 940 variants just to get Continuum. That is the best feature I've heard of for a phone. Throw in an AMD/Intel CPU and can replace your laptop.
Edit: I think any none low end phone released now will not sell well if it can't do continuum.
