Why didn't any of the good Lumia commercials play in the U.S

I never saw one good Nokia commercial in the U.S that actually marveled at the design/features of the phone... all I saw during windows phones flagship days were comparisons and price deal commercials

Hopefully when the Microsoft flagship phone and Microsoft flagship phone xl come, they'll get good commercials

We need commercials LIKE THESE

It's because MS Mobile seem to be focused on showing ads that compare WP to iOS in the US and they suck. The UK anniversary ad was much better than the US version, simply because it just showed what Cortana can do instead of comparing Cortana to Siri.

US version:

UK version:

That's just one of them. There are plenty more out there as well.

The only commercial I've ever seen for windows is for the Lumia 900. The beta commercial. I don't remember seeing anything else but surface commercials that are a full 30 seconds long that show nothing but the outside of it and how the keyboard can come off. It's stupid how they don't advertise their phones more aggressively

That IS a selling point though, so like it or not Microsoft is going advertise Cortana a lot more. Ads that just show "smoothness" and "how fresh it looks" are very boring to watch, I like to see how a particular function works and that's exactly what the Cortana ads do extremely well.

How a phone is on the outside (name, design, experience) is a big selling point when it comes to flagship devices to an average consumer. Or at least in the U.S its that way.

What a phone has going on in the inside is mostly only going to be that big of a deal to tech enthusiasts. A lot of average non-tech-ish people who are not on a tight budget want the latest, most beautiful and slim device with a nice well sized display. One that has the appeal or essence that gives off the impression that it is the best or #1, with a cool new feature here or there.

Notice how the iPhone is so commonly looked at as the "best smartphone" every year.

The phone that has a thicker body, less simplistic, non symmetrical design, advertised with features & loaded words like "miracast", latest snapdragon processor, quad HD display, etc.
often isn't going to be looked at as highly as the device that is slimmer, simplistic design, advertised with words like "crisp beautiful display", "thin & light", with just one or two cool new simple features that can be useful to everyone like unlocking your phone with your fingerprint.

A phone that is simple in every way like the iPhone is always going to be seen as #1, royalty, or the best phone of the year, when compared to phones like ZTE MEGA MAX 3000, SAMSUNG GALAXY APLHA 3, ZION T ULTRA, etc.

Non simplistic names, very specific individual uses and or purposes, and odd designs with too much individuality, regardless of their features aren't going to beat the simply advertised, simply designed, and simply named phone.

A few may be weeded over and get their burger from burger king, but McDonald's will always be the one seen as wearing the crown
