after satya took office under his command they released Microsoft apps for ios and android which are better compare to their own platform(windows phone 8.1)...many articles/comments said Microsoft diging their own grave yard...satya doesn't like windows phone because they know its already doomed bla bla bla....iam one of them who shouted negative in comments with out giving thought..

1) they decided to dump windows phone 8.1 development infavour of windows 10.
2) after mind blowing Microsoft event I understood they want apple customers to adopt surface/surface book indirectly windows 10...as all apple customers are locked in apple ecosystem(ios/ipad os/mac os/tv os/etc) means they used to apple services...iTunes/siri/icloud/safari/etc.....so Microsoft allowing them to use their services like groove music/Cortana/onedrive/onenote/office/etc(hope they make edge cross platform too)...when apple customer start to use groove music(must be better than iTunes) and other Microsoft services they slowly convert/lure for windows ecosystem(they might/will consider windows 10 devices)...

Iam loving new Microsoft..

This isn't entirely the case, it's not about attempting to poach customers into buying Microsoft hardware.

As well as offering an operating system and hardware, Microsoft is also a software and services company. Microsoft is forward thinking enough to realise that Android/Apple customers can also benefit from Microsoft's services, so offer Microsoft Office and other products to it's customers, regardless of what platform they're using.

There's been a perception that Microsoft has been neglecting Windows Phone when it started offering the new Office apps to Android and Apple customers. The reason for this is simple - in Windows Phone 8 and 8.1, the Office software was hard coded into the operating system and couldn't be updated easily (not without rewriting the OS and sending out OS updates). Now that Windows 10 Mobile is out there, we're seeing updates to Office apps very frequently.

Microsoft are obviously hoping that Google and Apple will start supporting their service customers on the Microsoft platforms, but this hasn't happened yet.

Believe or not, a lot of android/iPhone users own PC at home!
MSFT makes a lot of money thru royalties, it doesn't really matter if they give it away!
