NeoWin is reporting a change to Snapchat policy with photos taken using their app. They are telling its users that they have the right to distribute those "disappearing" photos uploaded on Snapchat servers. No telling where this is headed but its not something most expected from the snaps they are sharing on the net. Which goes to what we already know, once you put it on the internet, everyone will see it eventually.

This is probably limited to Snapchat Shared Stories

Oh noes. Me junk is getting distributated...

Thanks Jazmac. That made my night. IMHO, the SnapChuck team are simply brigands of the gluteal variety anyway. I wouldn't trust them with pics of my McDonalds lunch.

I think it's a similar story to MS's arguably scary EULA. Have a broad EULA and not be bit in the butt by legal.

I think this is tied to the city/area public stories, where people's stuff can be curated to be out for public view. (no risqu stuff will be picked naturally etc probably)

Like how Cortana needs all these permissions to find an event in an email.

They didn't qualify it that way. Why wouldn't they say Snapchat Shared Stories only as opposed to what they did say was photos on their servers? Sounds like they are going to use these photos in whatever profitable way they see fit, including the more racy photos headed overseas. I never intended to use this app so I don't know much beyond a couple of frat boys establishing this for the expressed purpose of allowing people to send whatever they wanted to others because they were told they are not kept and deleted shortly after being seen. Its a move that they had to know qualified for porn status.

    To wit:
Snapchat is a video messaging application created by Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown,[3] when they were students at Stanford University .[4][5][6] Using the application, users can take photos, record videos, add text and drawings, and send them to a controlled list of recipients. These sent photographs and videos are known as "Snaps". Users set a time limit for how long recipients can view their Snaps (as of September 2015, the range is from 1 to 10 seconds),[7] after which Snapchat claims they will be deleted from the company's servers

It was a 3rd party app developer using the pics sent via his app to create pr0n sites that caused the whole "security" crackdown to begin with, yes?

Was there not umpteen methods for recipients to save the snaps?

The whole service is built of spit and cardboard. I'm waiting for all the investors who put in to start screaming for blood. snapchat profits - Bing

There will be trouble ahead. Ha ha wont it be ironic they start developing a windows Phone app to get the investors off their backs, they will eat their words. I think if this happens all windows phone users should boycott, let the app revolution begin lol
