I can't seem to make my mind up. What Windows phone to go for, I've had a Nokia 930 before and loved it, but never really liked the battery life, Windows 10 ran great on it. But i like the look of the XL. Any pros n cons help please

(Best) Pro: you had the 930 before so try the 640xl this time around

I wouldn't expect 640 XL to be as powerful as 930, but if you scale your expectations accordingly...

By all accounts the 640 XL is a very nice phone and very capable.

    930. 640 XL is not powerful enough for W10M.

930 on 8.1 good or wait for the official 10 build and not the previews. 640xl looks like a worthy phone for the price and looks good to boot. Also has update 2 but will be w10 capable. I had the Icon which was pretty much the 930 and loved it.

They are very distinct phones. It would be easier if you told us what you expect from a phone, your personal needs and preferences, etc.
Cons on the 930, on my experience, are just the not so impressive battery life and lack of Glance screen.

I use the phone mainly for business, emails, photos, Internet, maps. For leisure, walking maps, gps, running apps endomondo, music, battery life is important.

Then your experience should be good on any of both phones, but i'm guessing you would like the 640xl more because of the battery life, if you don't mind its big size.

Is it that much bigger than the 930, I used to have a note 3 and never minded that, is the battery life much better on the XL compared to the 930

it's considerably bigger. This website can give you a better view of them in this aspect:

Compare Mobile Phones Side by Side with Actual size
(remember to set your screen size on the button "actual size")

as you can see, it's just slightly taller than the Note 3.

about the battery, i never used the 640 XL, so i can't tell you exactly how better than the 930 it is, but pretty much every review out there praises its battery life. Windows Central also has one:

Yes. I have 1520 and 640 XL both running latest build of W10M. Believe it or not, is heaven and earth with the performances.

The 640xl is an absolute beast. No the processor isn't as good as the 930 yet it does run the Os reasonably well.

I had the Lumia icon and it is the American version of the 930 and it was a lovely phone but the battery life is awful.

I only chose the icon/930 for the camera but you sound like someone who would be fine with the 640 xl.

Also look for the Lumia 1520 on eBay unlocked.

Think I'm going for a 640 XL, like the sound of big screen, big battery and sd card support, I'm not a gaming person, have an iPad mini 3 for that, the l930 was great but always annoyed me how the battery just couldn't last my days usage

It means that in his tests the 1520 did a better job of handling the w10 platform. Can't say this isn't true, because it's apparent that devices with less than 1gb of ram might struggle somewhat

It means 1520 has more power to work the W10M while my 640 XL is struggling. I will get a more powerful SoC offered by 930 if I were you.

I got Lumia 930 and used to have Lumia 640... Love the 640, feel nice in my hand... I bought it and love it, until I won a 930 thru a contest. Using 930 due to its camera and it is a limited edition black with gold trim (not sold in my country)...
