    Here are the results...

Repeat the second half with a 40" piece of paracord and the forked part of a second buckle to create a neck strap. You can easily change between wrist and neck straps by using the quick release buckle.

^ Very cool! I love clear directions like this with pics. Might give this a go on my 1520, too. Thanks for the post. Nice pics, too. :)

On my Start screens (1520 and 1020) I've ditched 4Blend and HDR Camera in favor of pinning two extra ProShot tiles. One is my fave HDR setup (+/- 1.7ev, 3 shots, no delay, merge on phone, no portrait mode) and one Custom which is just forced ISO 100 for low light ATM.

I'm planning to get out there today with both phones and get a bunch of pics in the can.

I had a lot of fun today. My wife and I went to the Botanical Gardens. I took both the 1520 and the 1020 along. Snapped more than 90 shots with each.

IMHO, this is the best of the crop. Lumia 1020, Lumia Camera, 34MP DNG, cropped and processed with Fotor to JPG > tweaks in Polarr > resized in Office Picture Manager '07 to fit the forum...

I will say this. My experience has always been that on Lumia 1520 Panorama = frustration.

That held true last Sunday as well. Tried and failed 3 times to get a good stitch going on 1520. Lumia 1020 was smooth as glass though.

Heading out in a little while to try and shoot some pics of the moonrise tonight. 16:43 my time.

Taking the 1520, the 1020, the 72" tripod, mini tripod, mini tripod with bendable legs, and a mounting bracket for the 1520 (the 1020 mounts via the camera grip. Both devices charged 100%.

I have a compass to help set up my shots knowing the moonrise will be at 76 and I have a primary and alternate location to scout. Hopefully the primary scouts well as the moon should be rising over a lake. Otherwise I'm going to a nearby hilltop with a less glamorous backdrop...

Awesome! Hope you get some good shots. I can never get good moon shots. I mean the moon that is orbiting Earth at the moment. :D

    Me too.
My new old Pentax K20 failed big time.
I tried a few moonshots 2 years ago with a Lumix FZ50 and got lucky there (the tripod helps)

The next chance is December 14th?

As expected the moonshots were not the best... I did get this one. Cropped 5:7 out of the 34MP dng from the 1020, shot at ISO 100 and I applied the backlit scene (all in Fotor).

Has a nice moodiness to it, IMHO. Detail is pretty poor at 100% viewing.

The best shot my eye picked out from the session again goes to 1020. ProShot Classic, 4MP HDR jpg, +/-0.3ev, untouched.

I have some grist for the processing mill, maybe I'll find something else when I have time to play with the files again.

Went out to a jam session last night. Just a few guys goofing around with a couple of guitars and a rack of keyboards.

I had the 1520 up at the top of the 72" tripod taking wide-shot video most of the night while I wandered in and out taking pics and vidz with the 1020.

First time really playing with this handy mount...

...I had the 1020 locked down to it in the camera grip case. Gave me a lot of leeway panning different angles for video and grip choices for stills.

The companion bracket has been great for mounting the 1520 even in a case as the jaws are extra wide.
Still sorting, evaluating and editing the copious material. I'm glad I have these two imaging powerhouse legacies on hand though. Had a lot of fun and made a few dollars on the side.

Would you say these are still good phones to use as cameras? I'm not really interested in carrying a camera with me and my passport is pretty trash for the camera. I remember fondly of the quality of the pics I was taking with my Icon. I like the take picture of being out and about with my wife and taking lot of pictures of my kids. I do like to print out these photos. So is the quality still good for me to pick one of these up? I've been reading on here the 1020 is pretty slow so it might not make the best camera for what I want to use it for. What's your guys' opinion?

People who are engaging on this project really benefit by keeping the device on 8.1 +Denim, IMHO. It simply seems to process better, speedier and with less issue than on W10M. For a dedicated camera, I see no reason to go to W10M and many to stay on 8.1.

Icon/930 and 1520 are better for speedy shot-to-shot times and have plenty of processing muscle compared to 1020. I like 1520 better for the battery endurance and larger screen. Remember that the cameras are equal. Their fault is in low light. Another strength they have in common is the ability to record Dolby Surround quality audio. But here again, the Icon/930 reports more issues with microphone than 1520 if my reading of the forums is correct...

For your use 1520 might be the best choice because of speed since kids and family shots are usually more spontaneous and the fast shot-to-shot times help. You can shoot generous 16MP or 18MP captures (depending on aspect ratio) and these are fantastic for cropping in. JPG or DNG as you prefer. The 5MP oversampled pics are generally of the highest quality as well.

There is a lot to say in 1020's favor as well. The largest capture size is immense and gives you way more data to work with post-shot. The low light capability is better. Xenon flash is very tasteful in output as compared to the dual LED of 1520/Icon/930 which tends to be heavy handed., especially close in

If you want fast as a top priority 1020 isn't well suited. It makes up for it in other ways and is great for composition type shoots.

If I had to pick just one... I'd probably say 1520. I took two long vacations (30+ days each) using the 1520 for my camera and was not disappointed. Throw in a good quality SD card and snap away. Take 100+ pics a day and don't worry about storage even with large capture sizes. It is totally dependable and capable in my experience for just the use you describe.

Here's the first few final post edit results.

    From the 1520.

    Keyboard Imp

    From the 1020.

    Axe (resized)

    Fu Dog (resized)

Fuji Film Hero Shot (processed in the incomparable B-L-A-C-K and I'm still miffed their crowd fund effort to go UWP failed)
