This is a very superficial question but I'm curious to hear if you had an option to purchase a gold colored variant. I read about gold being an option in some markets months ago but haven't heard anything since.

I pre-ordered mine today from MSFT. $719 including dock with the student discount. I didn't pay extra for overnight since in the past, MSFT has been known to send pre-orders out overnight anyway.

I am kinda sorta excited about getting it.

Het loopt helaas nog niet echt storm bij Central Point, ze begonnen met een voorraad van 125 en er zijn er nu nog 118 op voorraad. Ik ga helemaal niks meer bestellen van Microsoft totdat ik echt zeker weet dat het allemaal een beetje normaal werkt. De 950 en 950 xl waren dramatisch toen ze net uitkwamen en ik wil niet voor 850 - 1000 euro in het zelfde schuitje belanden. Heb jij deze besteld? Ik hoor graag of deze bevalt.

Nice to see educators discount applies on these in the USA MS store. Comes to $719 after discount, a bit more manageable than full retail.

I actually do have 2 kids in school, so I clicked their school and got the discount, but just so everyone knows, You can just pick a random school close by to where you live, from kindergarten to college, and you will automatically get a discount. Not sure if this is a mistake by MSFT or not, but if it's there, take advantage!

@adbolleman: I ordered mine with fourit.nl, because tweakers.net indicated it's cheaper there. Apperently my phone is still in back order. When I ordered over a month ago, the phone was due to arrive in about a week. It still is.
