I figured this feature needs its own thread, with the hope of getting HP's attention, because right now its pretty much a disaster. As best as I can tell, raise to wake doesn't work, period. Lower to sleep may work, but I wouldn't know, because the second you put the device down, even with sensitivity at the lowest, double-tap to wake just wakes the device again. And the best part is the flicker you get when you put the phone in a car mount. DT2W uses the accelerometer, which sounds fantastic, but the sensor obviously detects the vibrations of the car as taps and begins flashing the device on and off rapidly. And on top of that, it seems to queue the sleep/wake requests, as it will continue flashing at you long after you remove the phone from the mount if you left it in there for any decent amount of time.

It seems to me that all they really need to do to fix the latter issue is just disable the double-tap to sleep function, which isn't mentioned at all, but does work. Feel free to test it; double tap anywhere on your phone while its on. Or rapidly double-tap when its off and watch the light show.

I haven't been able to get double tap to wake to work at all. Even with sensitivity up, I haven't been able to wake it by double tapping (a strong single tap still wakes it by motion). Not sure how it works for others though.

Raise to wake works about half the time for me. On the default setting (one below the maximum sensitivity) it usually turns on when i take it out of my pocket, and sometimes turns on when I pick it up off the desk. A firm single tap on any part of the device (not a double tap) also usually wakes it.
Turning the sensitivity up to max gets it to turn on every single time I pick it up.

Lower to lock works every time for me. It's eerily accurate. It is a little annoying sometimes, although between iris and fingerprint, it's not much of an inconvenience for me. However this feature may be modified in an upcoming update since it's overly sensitive and not explained anywhere, so there should be some improvements there.

Thanks for posting this, as it's my #1 issue with the x3 now. When in my car cradle, the GPS Navigator kept timing out. Thank goodness for the fingerprint reader. And I sometimes use my phone with it lying flat on its back on a table or desk and it's really annoying when it get narpoleptic on me.

    I have the same issues.

I can't figure out how to turn OFF the screen off function so every time I place the phone down the screen goes off. Great - but for Skype for example ??

The same terrible problem using in a cradle to look at SatNav. Flickers on and off and is unusable. Waze of course is terrible with no turn-by-turn.

FaceBook seems to take an age to start up, in fact the list is endless. Would really appreciate some help on turning the screen sleep off when laying down the phone though.

You can turn this off in Settings > Extras > Double Tap. Disabling double tap will turn off all the features I've listed above.

This feature does not work for me either.
For double tap to wake, I have to tap harder then on 950.

As I mentioned above, there does not seem to be "double tap to wake" at all. You need to pick up the device to wake it (a strong shake will also wake it).

Just to let you know that worked perfectly. Used Waze to drive and stayed on and worked. Just got to get through some of the other frustrating traits it has. The camera for example has to be the worst effort I have seen in ages. Hunts around before focusing, even snaps at the wrong time. I can't honestly remember having such a bad camera on a phone.

It is better with the update, for sure, and they fixed the double-tap to sleep issue. But, it still isn't perfect (far from it). It needs to check the proximity sensor before turning the screen on, as the screen constantly turns on in my pocket because it is detecting my walking as taps.

On the demo unit I looked at yesterday, double tap to wake doesn't work.

You guys recommend running the insider ring?

Double tap is actually "raise to wake". The feature is named incorrectly as far as I know. Don't know if this will be fixed anytime soon (either adding actual double tap or renaming the feature).
It works very well on the latest firmware. Not 100% perfect, but it usually turns on when I pick it up or take it out of my pocket.
You can adjust the sensitivity if needed.

Insider builds get the same firmware as production devices so there won't be a difference with this feature. Up to you if you want the prerelease versions of windows.
