SD card disconnects since Creator's update - I think it is a service crash

I never got SD card disconnects before the Creator's Update installed. Now I get them several times a day. As a test, I decided to leave my Elite x3 in a stationary position for 24 hours to see if these disconnects were from the card moving in the device or simply a device issue. I tried this with 2 SD cards, and found on both cards, the phone would periodically give me the message "About removing your SD card" and the SD card would be gone from file explorer. I would reboot the phone (still without moving it), the SD card would reappear in file explorer, and several hours later - same exact message. This points to a software problem, not hardware. I have reported this to Microsoft - so hopefully we will get a resolution on this issue.
