Hi guys,

I've installed Windows 10 Insider build 10122 on my HP Stream 7 using the Windows Update method. After the upgrade finished, I decided to roll back to Windows 8.1 with the Reset your PC option because the performance was horrible and very buggy. During reset an error occurred leaving my Stream 7 not working anymore ever since.
So, I tried various System Restore options, but so far no result. I used the ISO of Windows 10 build 10130 to install onto a USB drive with the Microsoft USB DVD Download tool, but when I try to start the Stream 7 from the USB drive (using a OTG cable), it constantly says the device cannot be used.

Any ideas how to get my device to work again? I've ran out of ideas to be honest.

Thanks in advance!

I had a similar problem on the Stream 8. I upgraded to the 1022 version which worked just OK. I then updated to the 1030 version. Somehow, it took all the storage space on the 32 GB drive. Check with windows explorer and see if your storage on the C: drive shows red with less than ` GB available. that's what happened to mine and it did not have enough space to finish installing 1030 or go back to 8.1. I spent over 2 hours on the phone with HP support trying various things and nothing worked. I ended up have to send it back to be factory reset. Hope your situation is different but go online and do the chat thing.

Hey guys, check out this link. A few posts down, there are detailed instructions for getting back to the factory windows, and there's a link to a copy of the recovery image. Worked great for me! Just know that this image includes software from HP so of you're using a signature edition steam 7 you'll have to uninstall a few extra programs for the same experience.

That totally worked for me! Thanks! Got the RTM of Windows 10 running on my Stream 7 after recovering back to Windows 8.1. It runs much better than the Insider Preview, but still not as smooth though...
