Audio output to headphones

Basically, my phone wont recognize that ive plugged my headphones in for at least a few mins if at all.
Ive tried resetting the phone in both ways with no luck, when the headphones do work only one ear
piece will play music and beats audio doesnt always recognize that headphones have been plugged in.
any advice/fixes would be appreciated!

Turns out its something to do with the headphones virgin supplied me with.
Although i did turn off attentive phone first but im not sure if that helped or not
Has anyone else had problems with the headset they were supplied with?
if so how did you fix it? Im hesitant to go back to the store as it would be
the third time ive had to go in and make a complaint, and i doubt virgin would help
in any way as the last times ive been in they havent had a clue on how to use the
phone let alone fix it!

Unless you switch off beats, it goes on when you plug in your headphones. Did you try other headphones? Ask your Q. I try to answer.
