I recently purchased an AT&T HTC 8X from eBay for 30 bucks. The info said it had a clean IMEI so I figured I could call AT&T and I would get my unlock code, no problem. There was a problem. AT&T will not give me to code to unlock the phone because I am not and was not a customer. I told them I purchased the phone off someone for international usage and the said I needed to have an account with AT&T in order to get the unlock code. I checked on swappa and the IMEI reads clean. Does anyone have any advice? I don't want to pay the $10 for something that should be free.
