Bluetooth connectivity very inadequate (running WP8.1 DP)

I have a Motorola Roadster 2, and I use it with my phone in my car to enable hands-free speech via Bluetooth and to enable Driving Mode on my 8X. Although, for some reason, as of late my phone has failed to connect to my Roadster. I always leave the Roadster and my phones Bluetooth on, and the Roadster isn't out of batteries because i just got it a week ago.

I have decided to blame WP8.1, because I had the same problem when pairing my 8X with my Garmin GPS. Anyone else experiencing something like this and would like to share their thoughts/solutions?

What happens if, while in range and your Bluetooth devices are powered on, you turn Bluetooth off and on again on your phone? That's what I have to do with my phone and BT receiver in my car. But then again, I've always had to do that, not just since 8.1.

It sometimes doesn't connect. I think it's the roadster not waking up from sleep. I don't think it is my phone.
