okay i faced the same problem......i must admit that steps mentioned above are not for beginrs....Look all you have to do is "Dont paste the cab and language files is main folder that is CAB sender...Put files in {WP7 Update Cab Sender} folder under the main folder(CAB sender).....n bingo you wll get through it.....Enjoy

this is why i made this QUICK video showing how the folders should be set up Nice & Neat, just as Suggested

Heh, I Hate creating a profile just to make a post, but I felt that this post was awesome enough to warrant it. It works, I <3 you, and if anyone is having a zunecfg.dll error, you probably (like me) let zune auto install when you plugged your phone in the first time, which ends up with a non-standard install. Remove it via whichever of these instructions works for you, and then Install it from scratch. Make sure during the install that you "Click the Folder to choose Directory" and put it in the "C:\Program Files\Zune" Directory. After that, this works a treat. Again, Thanks sinlessearth! ^.^

Spyder you are the man for this post! I was having the same problem. I didn't even think to check my install folder

Thanks for the great post! It works and the instructions are just fine...

If you have the zunecfg.dll error. There is NO need to uninstall and reinstall zune. Just copy the dll and put it in the WPtools folder (or whatever the program is called) and then the program will find it and the process will work as in the instructions.

This is a Tmobile US phone and all 7 updates went smooth and I stopped doing the backup option after 2 updates. After each update, I did unplug my phone, close the program and started at the step of turning on zune, plugging the phone in, etc.

Thank you very much!

I worked for me too, the instructions are very clear and easy to follow. I did get an error message, all I had to do is use the Setup-UpdateWP that you, well planned, included in the package.

I took a while for me because I did not want to take any chances on losing my configuration, files, photos, apps, etc. But that was just on the first upgrade, after that it went fast.

I did make a mistake, I press R thinking that I was requesting to Read the log file, instead it initiated the Restore. The good news that is that it did restore perfectly, which was a relief as I was not sure if it would actually do it, the bad news is that I had to start over again, then there is the good news, it went fast since I already had the backup :)

Again, thank you very much!

Thanks for the instructions and links. I followed them to the letter and everything worked perfectly. I did have 1 issue with my WIFI not working but it was resolved by shutting down ~ removing/replacing the battery ~ powering on. Have had a single issue since.
