Bluetooth vs AUX

I'm looking to have my phone plugged up to my car stereo with the 3.5mm audio jack for playing mp3s. When a call comes in, or when I want to give the phone voice commands ("text so and so" etc) I want to pick up a bluetooth headset and have that take over. Is this possible while leaving the 3.5mm cable plugged in?

I do not know the answer to your question but is your head-unit capiable receiving music / telephone calls via BT? Thats the way to go.

Head unit does not have bluetooth. Replacing it is not an option as all speakers would have to be replaced, also.
