If it turns out to be the One (M8) with WP8.1, I would consider replacing my Lumia ICON. I love my buddy's M7. However if it turns out to be a lesser device, no chance.

I currently own a Lumia 1520 so I won't be replacing it, but as much as I would like more manufacturers to embrace Windows Phone, I'd be leery of this. I have family members who own HTC 8X, I owned an HTC HD7 and a couple of friends own various HTC Android phones and I've yet to see one with a decent, not even good, but decent camera.

I will bet the W8 ends up being the WP equivalent of the E8 instead of the M8. It's the same phone but with plastic and a 13mp camera instead of the dual camera ultrapixel.

I would consider it if it came to more carriers, like AT&T, and to people outside the US.

But that flagship Microsoft WP, I want that. :)

It may be the E8 with a second camera, since that was part of the rumor. Or it may be aluminum cased. My guess is the price for the E8 will be more appealing and Verizon is going to push it if it's an exclusive.

At my local stores they now put the Samsung ATIV SE next to the Galaxy, so a new HTC WP8.1 phone would sit next to the One M8. That at least gets people scoping out Android looking at them.

    I'd guess 16GB, microSD expansion, 1080p screen, Snapdragon 800.

I will consider it if it will be like One E8 (Ace). I prefer a larger battery and a lower ppi for the display. 441 ppi pixel density from One E8 is just a waste of hardware and battery. For me it's enough a display with 300 ppi.

If it's an HTC M8 with WP8.1, then yes. I would be VERY interested. Only problem is, I don't live in the US. Therefore, I'm pretty much out of luck. Not that I would've been able to afford it anyway xD

I am in for one if its made. I loved my original TELUS hero. I actually still have it. The m8 is the nicest design in phones right now. So if the design is very similar, and its a powerhouse then I'm.very interested.

    The 8x camera is fine.

I was leaning towards importing a 930 but this has a bigger battery and SD slot... Plus the 801 and more RAM. I have a negative history with HTC, but if my carrier picks this up if/when it goes global I might have to snag it.

It looks really good with white background, sleek! However, I don't dig the on screen buttons at the bottom, a bit tacky and not as refined. But I'm sure some will prefer that, so good for them! :)

I must be starting to lean in the direction of the ONE because I'm beginning to wonder what my icon might sell for.

Don't know how I feel about them one way or the other. Probably be checking it out soon. Could most likely become accustomed to them anyway.

The phone is unlocked. No reason it won't work unless the bands arent there.

MMS won't work, tethering won't work, visual voice mail won't work.

MMS is a no go... Tethering needs to be unlocked by VZW before it will work... VVM is a go...

Now even though it works, there are a few important things to note...

The LTE band 13 that the radio has is not fully compatible with T-Mobile - or T-Mobile is not completely compatible with it. They only have the top 10MHz of frequency in the band, so range is very limited with the M8.

The HSPA+ radio only pulls 14.4 speeds, not the 42 speeds that are near LTE speeds for T-Mobile. You will be much slower than you are used to if you had a T-Mo device.

It does not have an AT&T LTE band and same story on the HSPA+ speeds - much slower.

That said, the device has full functionality on both networks - sans picture messaging - due to the APN editor not allowing the change.

All things considered, the M8 is awesome and well worth the coin. If you were buying one outright, you can get VZW to get aggressive with their plans and save some money. I'm on a unlimited talk, text and 1GB data plan for $45 a month after taxes. Additional GB are $10 each. I'm around WiFi and usually use about 250-300MB a month, so I didn't need to get the unlimited plan, but I bet they would go up to 2GB for that price if I tried to leave.
