AT&T "Required Monthly Test" message

4 years with iphones, then 1 year with a Lumia. The day i switched to HTC One M8, i started getting repeated text messages from ATT:

"This is a TEST of ATT Commerical Mobile Alert System. This is only a Test 800005A4-15548E9"

The messages play a loud tone (like a severe weather alert). I've muted the thread and disabled alerts, but these messages keep coming in. At all hours.

It's been bugging the crap out of me too. It goes in fits and starts, not one in a coupe of weeks then several a day. Bloody annoying, but must be an AT&T issue rather than the device.

My phone updated to GDR2 yesterday. 24 hours so far without a 'required monthly test' message.. Fingers crossed that the software update has fixed this.

It appears to be specific to AT&T, as I don't get it with Verizon. You should call them and ask about it.

That's weird. Ive been on ATT all my life and I have never received one.

I have an M7, on AT&T since 1995, never got that (yet?)
