I'm a Insider user with my HTC One M8, unfortunately i used the device recovery tool in order to rollback to windows 8.1.

Now I want to upgrade to Windows 10 again, but there's no updates available through any Insider ring and the hacks from XDA are not working for me, ?Some trick? :eck:

I would have suggested the hacks but you're sure you did them correctly?

For anyone else in the same situation, there is a very easy way to do it. I bought a M8 after seeing them new for only around $100-50 on Amazon without knowing they couldn't be updated to Windows 10, and this thread was the first thing to pop up so I thought I would help out.

If you hit Aman's link it will eventually lead you to this forum. Translate it using chrome/google translate/whatever and follow the simple instructions. I would post them here, but I don't really know the rules and don't use this forum much.
Step 1 was buggy as the recovery tool never worked for me, so I just reset the device from settings and everything else went fine. The only hard part is tediously downloading exactly 47 little files. Then you've got Windows 10, which performs a thousand times better than 8.1, and are ready to regedit it to the latest stable.

Thanks for the glimmer of hope!! Can you expound a bit on the directions. My phone is dev unlocked, at the Welcome screen with English selected. Does the "C:\Cabs" refer to the phone itself? Do I need to interop the reg or something? I downloaded all 47 files to "C:\cabs" on my computer. The IUTool just gives me a "Command failed. (HRESULT = 0x80dd0001). I really want WM10 back on the HTC One M8 because it worked pretty well!

"If another person to even happen, then please post on XDA.

As I updated HTC M8 (Verizon):
1. Reset phone using Windows Device Recovery Tool
2. Select English
3. Load the http://pastebin.com/2QRtURXL (taken here http://forum.xda-devel ... llection-cab-t3234805) in the C:\cabs
4. Download and install http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=526733
5. Run the win + r cmd
6. CD C:\Program Files (x 86) \Windows Kits\10\Tools\bin\i386
7. iutool.exe-V-p "C:\cabs"
8. ...
9. Rejoice 10-Ke
10. Change the data in the registry in order to receive the latest build (http://forum.xda-devel...ne-rs1-build-t3319375)

P.S. Wifi I was disabled and selected Insider Preview Fast."

Hey folks - this was posted by Brandon_T_R in another thread here. I just did this to my phone and it worked great. Hope this helps some folks out.

Anyway, here are the steps (in English ) to do the upgrade:

Use Windows Device Recovery Tool (download here: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=522381 and FAQ here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...overy-tool-faq) to get back to 8.1 (if not already) - you'll need to connect your phone to the PC you installed WDRT
Go to this site: 14219-10586 htc w8 tmous (0P6B140) - Pastebin.com and grab all of the .cab file urls. These urls are from this thread: [W10M BUILDS] Update links collection (cab-f?€? | Windows 10 Development and Hacking)
This is the part that sucks... Paste each url into a browser to download the file (you should end up with 47 files) - on a side note, if anyone doesn't want to do this, I could paste a link to a zipped folder with all of the files
Place all the files into a folder named "cabs" in your C: drive (ex: C:\cabs)
Download and install the Windows Driver Kit from http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=526733
Open command prompt (windows + R then "cmd") and enter this command (places you in the proper folder to execute the next command): cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Tools\bin\i386
While your phone is connected to the PC, run the command: iutool.exe -V -p "C:\cabs" - it will take a while to execute as it transfers, then installs all 47 files. I think it took about 75-90 minutes for me.
Once that finishes, you'll be on build 10586.11

See this thread for the working hyperlinks etc:

(Apologies in advance for duplicate post, just want to ping as many thread subscribers as I can.)

So I just upgraded my dad's m8 One on Verizon to the latest Redstone RS1 .321 build. Unfortunately, stupid me did a hard reset despite reading I wasn't supposed to, and I lost the Data and MMS connection. I was successfully able to add back the Verizon APN settings so data is now working, however I'm unable to get the MMS info to work. I was able to unhide the setting via the RegEdit I found on these boards here:

https://apn.gishan.net/settings/os_..._10_internet_and_mms_settings_for_verizon.php

However all the settings I've seen on the internet still aren't working for send or receive of MMS. I tried using these here:

https://apn.gishan.net/settings/os_..._10_internet_and_mms_settings_for_verizon.php

The question is, are there Verizon MMS APN settings that have worked for anyone else adding them after the fact in Windows 10, or am I going to have to go all the way back to 8.1 and back to 10 again to get this one feature working on Verizon again?

Any and all info is truly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

Wanted to ping this thread. I am currently on Verizon and have absolutely loved my HTC One M8 8.1 for the past two-plus (!!) years. I am looking at switching to AT&T, however. And bringing my phone along for the ride. I would like to upgrade to Windows 10. Looks like this phone is not supported, obviously, and hence the need for this thread.

Is there any limitation to doing what I would like? Can the One M8 jump from Verizon to AT&T? If so, should I attempt the upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile before or after? Thank you in advance for any assistance!
