I tried to upgrade but they said I'm not eligible till 1/27/11 which I know to be true. So looks like I'll either have to buy it on a new plan and cancel my phone or try to negotiate with the staff in an AT&T store.
OK, so question. If I bought the Titan on a new contract and then proceeded to cancel my current account early, could they then give me my original phone number? Or can I just put in my old SIM card? But then I'd have to cancel the new contract before it even started lol.
Need some advice.
Thanks!
You can't take a number from one line in your account and put it on another line in the same account.
You can swap SIMs, and you will encounter a number of scenarios:
- Keep the new line (for 2 years), and pay the extra add-a-line charge and data plan if you decide to put a smartphone on the new line.
- Keep the new line (for 2 years) and pay the extra add-a-line charge if you decide to put a regular phone on the new line.
- Cancel the new line after 30 days and pay the termination fee (on top of other fees associated with the new account) but keep the phone.
- Cancel the new line within 30 days without a termination fee but return the phone.
