Imagine doing that to your lovely Titan, it looks hideous LOL :)

Oh well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess.
That's what I thought too! :D Why someone would want to do that to a brand new phone is beyond me. :giggle:

I know palandri, i can understand if you would like to improve the looks of it in a good way, but that? LOL

It certainly proves it's not plastic, if nothing else. :)

On second thought after seeing that other gentleman execute the idea on his phone...I don't think I'll be doing the same. We'll see!

I'm wondering if it's aluminum coated plastic... Could be.

It is aluminum. The bottom piece with the rubber coating is plastic.

Someone with the guts to prove its aluminum should scrape the inside of their cover and take a picture of the metal flakes... I won't.. But someone should.. Lol

I kind of like the look... Don't think I'll be doing it, but I do kind of like it.

I like the concept, not the finish. I would rather see smooth polish than brushed aluminum. The brushed look is definitely like the original iphone.

It's funny the amount of conflicting info in this thread. My HTC arrive has a metal back and it feels nothing like the Titan. That being said, I scraped the inside with a knife and took pics. I'm still not sure what to make of it. It not like any plastic I've seen but it doesn't seem like aluminum either. I took the pics with my Titan btw.

It is definitely Aluminium Anodised. I work with Aluminium with varying finishes on them. Typically the anodisation process adds to the thickness of the component. Depending on the thickness of the electroplating, you would have to remove a fair amount of material to get to the raw aluminium. See the image below (taken with my Titan) where you can see the aluminium where HTC have machined the inside of the camera opening and some different finishes (glossy and matte).

I'd love if the back was black, not gray, it would make the device more elegant.

The AT&T version sold by Best Buy is supposed to be black as well. I'll let you know when it gets here.

European version is ALUMINUM. Every website, reviews, official websites say that it's ALUMINUM. I had Titan for couple of days and I didn't even think that it could be plastic, because it's metal.

Without a doubt 100% its metal. Its cold to the touch when left for a while without use.

My receipt from the Microsoft Store also lists my AT&T branded Titan as black. It is grey.

Mine is from the Microsoft Store and looks like WeeBear's pic. Is that supposed to be the black version? It is definitely a shade of grey. Is the AT&T Store version lighter?

My question exactly! Since at&t stores don't have any in stock, and since at&t shipments are backordered, it may take some time to compare for real.

I did compare BestBuy photos to at&t photos, and they looked different on screen (att more silver, described as 'gunmetal' in places)... but we all know the limts of screen views relative to the real thing. It *is* possible that ours is "black", albeit a gray-ish version thereof, whereas the at&t version could be a much lighter silver. I would not call mine silver by any stretch, but would also hesitate to call it truly black.

Mine is definitely not silver either. They do have one on display at my local AT&T store. Maybe I will stop in and compare it. BTW, my receipt from the Microsoft Store clearly lists my Titan as black. It may just be a case of labeling and all the Titans are actually the same color.
