Okay, Microsoft did something phenomenal quite some time back. They managed to pull off a viral marketing campaign that managed to shake some dust off Internet Explorer.

Behold, Inori Aizawa!
Debuting in the teaser trailer here:
Anime Festival Asia Special Video - feat. Inori Aizawa - YouTube

By the way, the full anime hasn't been released yet as of the time of writing.

If you happen to run IE, you may also check her homepage out (which is unsurprisingly targeted toward weeaboos)
http://internetexplorertan.com/home/

If you don't understand why her name is like this, when it offers no obvious clue to the Western audience...

...say it exactly as the Japanese say their names. That is, family name first.

And, no, this isn't the first endeavor of Microsoft when it comes to this kind of advertising. The Madobe (windows) family claims this honor.

You have Claudia Madobe, Nanami Madome, Yu and Ai Madobe, as well someone whom they used to advertise Silverlight!
(Just in case the puns aren't clear, Claudia: cloud services, Nanami: Windows 7, Yu and Ai: Windows 8/RT)

So, what do you think of this? Did this somehow push you to IE?

For some reason YouTube videos don't load on my IE. After 1 second I get black screen saying "An error occurred. Please try again later. Learn more"
This goes away when I watch it on Chrome, but heck, I won't download Chrome on my PC, ever.
