You can look at my iOS homescreen and judge what kind of interests I have. Don't fall for every nonsense they feed you in ads.

Comparing a Idevice screen with metro, come on!!

You really don't have a personalized screen in Ios, all icons are in front of you, metro is the opposite.

You can make the same argument for what apps are on the home screen of iOS vs. what's on the secondary screens. The fact that the tiles are live doesn't mean the person is any different than if that same individual had those same apps organized similarly on an iPhone. There are only a few instances, like being able to pin important people to the start screen in WP, that I would say might give anybody an idea of what the user finds important.

Tiles being live make a HUGE difference.

1) a collection of images says more than one image
2) movement attracts the eye

So, other than pinning people or groups that are important to you, and having a collection of live images that can tell a story, they are exactly the same.

I love how fanboys are saying that the 5s and 5 are virtually identical yet think that Nokia's offerings are any different. Take a look in the mirror.

Uh, what? The 520, 720, 920, 1020, and 1520 are all very different phones.

And from phone to phone, the L800 -> L900 -> L920 are significant updated devices.

Mate your talking a load of rubbish. All the Nokia released in the last year are different to each other. 920 Beast of a phone with in built wireless charging. 925 The slim and sexy version for the ladies who complain about the weight of the 920. 1020 The new bad *** camera phone. Nothing come close to it in terms of photos.

Now how exactly are these the same may i ask apart from them using WP8?

You're both right and wrong here. The new 5s has some significant new features: the adoption of a 64bit processor is one and it will be interesting to see what new features this architecture supports; but I think it fair to say Apple have failed to meet expectations whether or not those expectations were reasonable.

Apple must realise that with Windows Phone, Microsoft innovated in how users interact with their device in ways many people, especially detractors, have yet to appreciate. The designers at Microsoft realised that some limitations in GUIs aren't logical, but habitual. The revisions in iOS 7 are purely cosmetic and this shows that Apple's designers don't understand what Microsoft did.

Microsoft are suffering for their innovation, look at the fuss about the missing start button in windows 8, but people will adapt in time as the new paradigm sinks in. Their implementation of this paradigm is incomplete, so there will be further innovation along this line.

As for the view in the mirror, you're completely wrong. New Windows phones are available in screen sizes from 4" to 4.8" or 6", if you count the soon to be announced Lumia 1520. You can go for a colourful 520 with interchangeable covers, or 925 unibody design, or a metallic Samsung Ativ S. In cameras, you can have a standard 5 megapixel shooter like the Lumia 520 to a 8.6 megapixel Lumia 925 to a 41 megapixel Lumia 1020. Apple only offers one screen size, one camera and only now offers choice of colours.

If you don't like the iPhone aesthetically or it is unsuitable because its screen is too small, you're stuffed with Apple and that is how you can spot a clear design philosophy like Microsoft's, from a rigid one like Apple's. Unfortunately - and I mean unfortunately - Apple have failed to adapt this time.

Totally agree, wp8/metro ui had brought something unique that was not present in this way and for me changes how I use my phone.
For me its like an post-it wall with all my important stuff on it on a fun, quick but professional looking way.
Only problem is they got in the game late so things on a technical level sometimes fall behind (app support, lacking features)

I really think, especially after blue we might see an significant increase in market share (mainly from new smartphone users also from android which is to shattered for innovation

The difference here is that I pin what I like on the home screen, it displays what I like without clicking it.
On iOS you are forced to use all your icons as you cannot hide them.
For example:

I pin twitter to my home screen, it displays that a friend of mine retweeted me.

On iOS you see an twitter icon, you don't know if the person uses it, what he does only a number to indicate the amount of notifications.

Wp8 offers a glance into all of your important or favorite apps at eyesight

By the way, didn't some apps show information from the multitasking pane?

But...take a deep long look at them...and say what IS different?

The 92x line and the 1020, bar looks, are more closely related to each other than the 5 and the 5S. But, they should be - they're variants.

With Blackberry's BB10 being almost a year old, I believe IOS is officially the oldest OS. Eventually, it will catch up to Apple and they will have to consider rethinking their business strategy. As for Windows Phone, the ink is still wet when considering how young Windows Phone really is and how much room they still have for growth. From their simple yet complete WP8 OS, to its pure and METRO UI. Once people actually examine and experience what goes into a Windows Phone build, only then will they realize the limitless potential WP has. If Microsoft could rid itself of it's bland corporate marketing image and create a fresh, original and highly efficient marketing campaign in which would encompassing Windows 8 tablets/PCs, XBOX ONE/Kinect and Windows Phone 8 into one big ''SUPER-ECOSYSTEM'', they could gain so much ground in terms of market share, A.K.A. ''popularity''. Because lets face it folks, it is a popularity contest in which APPLE has clearly won thus far. One must give credit where credit is due and kudos to APPLE for their simple yet effective commercials. With Microsoft's 7.2 billion dollar Nokia purchase, the tigger-pullers of the ''Services and Devices'' business have to realize that when Steve Ballmer said that they intend on becoming a services and devices brand, he was setting a precedent. Once Microsoft becomes the rightful owners of Nokia, I honestly hope they will respect the people and the history behind the Nokia brand for years to come. I will not speak for others, but I'm not sure WP would be my phone of choice had Nokia not made the Lumia 920.

In conclusion, I will not waste time comparing IOS to WP8, because I did my homework and not only does Windows Phone 8 best suits my daily and personal needs,

IT REFLECTS WHO I AM no matter what others may say.

iOS AND WP8 are both solid platforms. We don't need to have a war on which is better. My wife loves her iPhone, dislikes ios7 but doesn't want to change. The only reasons she wants a windows phone is because of the camera on the 920 and 1020. In a few weeks when she switched to t-mobile she will most likely get an Ip5s, mostly because the 925 doesn't have the memory she needs.
One thing about the iPhone, it just works. The OS is very stable and apps are top notch. Best part or windows phone is the core OS (without 3rd party apps) is on-par with IOS :)

on iOS i assume? I dont have a ios7 device so i wouldnt know

But on the folder/icon part, its still a static icon that does nothing.
My Phone at First sight tells people the friends I have ("people" tile)
What I did this holiday with photos and that a friend just retweeted me
On iOS I see a photo, contacts and twitter icon.

Lumia 920, 925, 928 and 1020. Exact same internals, exact same screen size, looks almost identical (1020 and 920 are 99.9% identical) with varying cameras.

Sounds suspiciously like what Apple does doesn't it? Except that they release 1 (flagship) per year, not 5 or 6.

AT&T is offering me $200 off an iPhone 5S if I wait until Nov 14th. So I'm gonna buy a 16GB iPhone 5S at full price and have it share my contract with my L920. I'll go back and forth every few weeks with the 2 phones until 8.1 comes out. I figure why not have the best of both worlds if I can afford it?

Sigh,

L 920
IPS Lcd
1 GB RAM
8 MP Camera

L 1020
AMOLED
2 GB RAM
41 MP Camera

Yep, it really looks 100% exactly same like the fruit brand which is releasing the same device every year :), which now comes in gold!

Seriously? It doesn't take a lot to tell which lumia it is at first glance, Iphone owners need to scream to tell which device they are holding & that's for a lame reason, they release devices that look completely identical!!

A phone start screen reflects a person's personality? Care to explain?

I've been tempted SO many times over the years by various things, tech wise. When smartphones came along, that truly became something I couldn't sit still with. I had a little Nokia flip phone and transitioned to a Motorola Sidekick Slide, which I loved. Then came the Palm Centro, and it was one of my best experiences even with the short comings. All the things I could do in a phone I never thought was possible (mind you this is like 2008). My ex had just purchased a HTC Mogul, and I frowned my face up at WinMo cause it was laggy (IMO). He loved it cause of the customization. So months later, after some wear and tear on my Centro, I figured it'd be best to get a new phone now instead of waiting until it breaks. The HTC snap came out around my birthday and intrigued me (I was one of those QWERTY people). COMPLETELY changed my mind about the WinMo experience and was one of my most favorite phones.

Over the years, and after many phones, I played the waiting game with WinPho 8 to see if their ecosystem would get stronger. Then, Nokia got added to their line up and I was AUTOMATICALLY excited. Always wanted a good Nokia device that could hang with the current tech. So after switching around on platforms, I seem to always come back to Windows. It works dependably (like Apple), it's customizable (like Android---to an extent), and the experience seems to meet that "need" for me that other platforms can't provide. Notifications make me anxious and I hate seeing them, so I prefer WP's subtle approach. I really hate opening up a bunch of apps and having to scroll around and seek, so the live tiles help with staying updated on close ones and on the apps that I care to know about immediately. The design, IMO, looks much better compared to others. While I could do something different on Android with a ton of variety to choose from, I need dependability. Yes, WP has drawbacks but I'm okay with those on this platform than the drawbacks on the other ones.
