I'm trying to set up my wife's new Yoga Book with Windows 10 Home. It gave errors during setup trying to use a Microsoft account on setup so I just created a local account. When I go to add another user I just get an error screen that says, "Something went wrong Try again, or select Cancel to set up your device later." Retry just gives the same error and Cancel doesn't get me any where. Updating to the most recent build didn't help either.

I've searched the web and don't find anything quite like this, only one where temporarily removing the battery from a laptop fixed it some how. I've reset Windows including a full reset to factory and it still isn't working. Any ideas?

    Thank you,

    Davd

Once set up with a local account, have you let it just sit for a few hours to download the latest updates?? Soon after setting mine up, I got a pretty sizable update. Mine had been running somewhat poorly until after that update.

Are you able to add a second account now? I've tried it several ways. First time was with a Microsoft Account which kept failing then went to a local account and couldn't use just a first name, had to give it first and last then the local account worked. That then left two accounts with the same name! When I switched to the MS account the local account disappeared. I then reset and tried again starting with an MS account but it failed on first attempt so I went with a local account and then selected login with an MS account instead. Still couldn't create a second account. I tried a third time starting with just a local account on install but had the same results. Each time I had the Yoga Book do a full update.

I'm giving it one more try. If it still won't allow me to create multiple accounts I'm going to try a fresh Windows 10 install. I'm just not sure what/where all the Yoga Book specific drivers are. I have one file that someone posted over in the Lenovo forums but not sure if that is everything I need.

I just finished doing another reset to factory image. This time when it got to the account screen I put in my wife's MS account credentials and selected next. After a couple of minutes it gave me the "Something went wrong" error, selecting retry sent me back to the account screen. This time I put in my MS account credentials and selected next. When the error popped up I again selected retry and was sent back to the account screen. I then selected create local account. It wouldn't accept a first name for the account name so I had to use something else. The local account set up ok.

I then checked the accounts in settings and there were the two MS accounts! I logged out of the local account and into my wife's MS account. At one point the "Something went wrong" message flashed up on the screen and then her desktop showed up. I logged her out and logged into my MS account and the same error message flashed up on the screen then it immediately went to my desktop and also had my default screen background!

I don't know what is going on with this Lenovo Yoga Book image but something is messed up. I have the accounts I need on the device but it isn't the way it should work.

Finally got it fixed! I noticed that someone on the Lenovo forums commented that they couldn't get their copy of Windows to upgrade to the Pro version. It turned out that the Windows version they had was the single language version and had the wrong product code or something. I decided to attempt an "upgrade" even though I wasn't upgrading to Win 10 Pro. I downloaded Windows 10 to a USB stick and used it to upgrade by simply running setup.exe on the USB stick. Now everything seems to work!

I think Lenovo's image has problems so if you have a Yoga Book and it is having issues try using the Windows Media Creation tool to "upgrade" your Yoga Book. I probably could have done the upgrade directly from the MS site without using a USB drive but don't want to reset just to test this our. FWIW, it took about 30% of the battery to do this upgrade so don't attempt an upgrade without the Yoga Book being plugged in or much less than a full charge. I really wish Lenovo had put a USB C connector on this thing and provided a USB Y with charging on one port.

That's one heck of a fix. Glad you figured it out.
