Lumia 822 wont sync with mac

Hi, I was hoping someone on here could help me out. I have a lumia 822 on Verizon that I had been using for a while before taking a break from it. While using it before, I had synced music onto it from my iTunes using the Windows Phone App for mac. I just started using the phone again but when I go to sync it in the app, the sync button is greyed out. I've restarted the phone and computer, deleted and redownloaded the app but the sync button is always greyed out. Any ideas on why that could be?

Are the files DRM-protected? If so, they cannot be synced.
