Once the stricken ATT model (RM-983) this Lumia has been reborn as the 985 model courtesy parts by gordonfink, which is also unlocked. Includes the coveted Lumia Denim firmware as well.

Do note that since this phone was originally a 983 it has the dark grey body as opposed to the silver one of most other 830's.
It looks cool with white.

Includes:
Phone (battery)
White and green back covers, the green has an ATT logo on it.
~8 inch USB cable.
translucent-grey INCIPIO firm plastic case.

As noted above I'm in the market for an ATT-compatible Lumia 640 and if any unlocked or ATT 640 users want to upgrade for the phone and some cash.

We removed the 983 motherboard and replaced it with one from a 985.

Its the brain of an unlocked 985 in the body of a 983.

The RM-985 motherboard fits perfectly inside an ATT-based RM-983 body. Once you do the motherboard swap, you have a bonafide 985, unlocked, with full Denim. That's what Xandros did on this one.

The result is a 985, but with black trim.

I will entertain other offers as long as its a Lumia and worth significantly less than this 830. (cash/PayPal from the buyer will cover the discrepancy, which is negotiable, but I'm not axing $60 of the asking price.)

As of now, the ideal deal for me is a 640 + $100 = 830 bundle.

FWIW - the last RM-985 I sold went for $220. A 640 brand new is only $70. By my math, this is a great deal!

Well, until today evidently, only the 985 had full Denim. Also, the 985 is factory unlocked, so you are not dependent upon a carrier for updates - they will come directly from MS. It can be used on any GSM.

Microsoft appears to have pulled Update 2 off the WPRT servers for RM-983.

In a nutshell; the Phone was debranded from AT&T, put on the Microsoft track for OTA and is now Factory Unlocked for any SIM with a North American Radio onboard.
