The 530 will be a MASSIVE flop, what are you thinking MS???? Only 512 MB RAM!!!!!

Tip for the OP: Dude, next time you do a fun post, make sure you have "Sarcasm" in big, flashing red lights right at the top. Way too many people on this thread are simply missing the point... :-)

The 530 will be a MASSIVE flop, what are you thinking MS???? Only 512 MB RAM!!!!!

Its all about where you live and how phones are sold in your region. In Europe / North America (also S. America?) most people buy a carrier subsidised phone for $200 / €200 / ?150 and don't mind being locked into a contract for around 2 years. These are the markets where flagships thrive. In...

    Terrible review from TechRadar

Another "Alternatives-are-better-than-apps" argument just because WP doesn't have the app. I wonder if people would say the same thing if Nationwide or HSBC had a WP app in the first place?

    Terrible review from TechRadar

This is the other problem with the WP community - the lack of willingness to differentiate between a (tedious?) workaround and a conclusive solution. iOS and android both have banking apps. Such apps make it easier to bank on your phone (no need to carry around security devices etc.) The...

Have Windows Phone updates improved or degraded performance?

I don't know if it's just me, but I've found that moving from WP8 to 8.1 Dev Preview dramatically slowed down Nokia Camera - it now takes more than 4-5 full seconds before the app launches. Apart from that, everything has been positive in general.

    Terrible review from TechRadar

We've been down this road before: Each time someone points out a missing feature or missing app in WP, the first defence I see is usually a: "Ah, but that's a stupid feature to have..." "You don't really need that feature/app..." "We don't have that app, but the unofficial alternate we have...

    Terrible review from TechRadar

To be fair, that review wasn't "terrible" and I think sums up what a lot of outsiders feel about the WP platform in general. Most people on this forums are used to WP missing features/apps/doing things differently but not someone who's used to an android phone. I've been toying with a Moto G...

What's the worst accident you ever had with your phone?

Years ago I had a Nokia 6230i. One day I left it in my jeans and chucked it in the washing machine. I fished it out after two cycles and was sure it was a goner, but after drying it for a couple of days, it continued to work like nothing happened. Think I still have it lying around some place...

As a developer, the McLaren news is even more chilling.

People are freaking out because, in the absence of any true flagship the McLaren was the one thing they were looking forward to. The forums are ripe with threads where users ask if McLaren will have this or that feature - sure, people can dream, but its not a nice feeling when you're rudely...

Is Microsoft kidding me!? Do they test their own software before they seed it to the world?

Unfortunately the sad reality with this forum is there are loads of know-it-all users who write such comments, especially if someone points out a flaw or limitation of WP.

Why WP is dead in the water

Hi Ian, Thanks for your response. I agree, and I think the biggest problem with WP is that its too good to leave behind, despite its flaws. That right there, is why we have so many threads pointing out its shortcomings - because deep within, everyone using WP wants it to succeed. If it were a...

Why WP is dead in the water

And clearly YOU alone know the reason; and everything everyone else says that disagrees with that is c**p. What an attitude!

I broke the screen of my Lumia 930

Ouch! Sorry to hear that bro. Hope you manage to fix it.

Why WP is dead in the water

OEMs aren't stupid to spend a ton of money developing for a platform that only has 4% of the market when that same amount of money spent on iOS/Android will yield them better returns. Also, I never said it was Microsoft's fault, and for me as an end-user I don't care who's fault it is or what...

Why WP is dead in the water

If there's one mantra that can sum up the WP community, its: "Please be patient; we're getting there...soon...I think" While patience is a virtue worth striving for, unfortunately we're talking about a world where flagships come out and become outdated within a year. Patience can only apply to...
