I don't know, I just made a bootable install USB and wiped the whole thing off my drive and installed totally fresh. You could still move your Steam folder to Another temporary partition and then after your Clean install move it back to your Win8 install. Here's an official and simple tutorial...

Isn't it up to the developers what they charge for their games? Also, I think I read somewhere that Microsoft doesn't take as big a cut from every app sold by a developer as Apple do just so they will get more developers onboard. Oh wait, they charge the same amount per app sold UNTIL the app...

A favourite mouse scroll bar thingie appears if you left-click at the bottom in the URL field IIRC. Took me a while to figure it out, I was also astounded that favourites were supposed to be start menu tiles but you don't have to have it like that. Just left-click in the URL field and you'll see...

Still, having the option to choose which version to install wouldn't be so hard to implement and AFAIK both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of 8 costs the same so why banish new and potentially long term users to an eternity in 32-bit ****?

Make sure to check the little terms and agreement box at the bottom of the assistant window before clicking on the purchase button. I missed it a couple of times then noticed it.
