Now that we have the AT&T pricing, who wants to eat crow?

I was hoping for $349, which I thought would be a fair price. You're right, at $449, it's really close to flagship pricing. The Moto X is $500, the Lumia 1520.3 I think is about the same price. In some countries, I heard the Lumia 930 is only around €50 more than the Lumia 830. I was surprised...

    830 performance vs. 630/635

Well it does have 1 GB of RAM vs 512 MB. I think the GPU uses the system memory. It doesn't have it's own dedicated memory. I also wish they could have gone with a Snapdragon 600, but Windows Phone doesn't support it. I'm guessing the device was in development over at Nokia before the sale was...

Unlocked 830 or ATT version: which is better?

Re: Unlocked 830 or ATT version Yes, the RM-985. You won't get the carrier aggregation, but it still supports AT&T LTE.

Unlocked 830 or ATT version: which is better?

Re: Unlocked 830 or ATT version I believe the AT&T version supports Carrier Aggregation. I think you'll want that if you're on AT&T. It will combine the downlinks for two different frequency bands so you'll have one big pipe for downloading. It'll help on AT&T. While AT&T has a decent amount...

AT&T and the RM-985: Lack of LTE

Did you check the cellular settings to see if the highest connection speed is set to 4G and not 3G?

AT&T and the RM-985: Lack of LTE

Where did you buy it from? Are you sure it's a RM-985 and not a RM-984? The seller could have been mistaken.

Which 830 to buy for AT&T?

re: Why only 3.5G speeds? It supports Band 4 LTE.

Which 830 to buy for AT&T?

re: It looks to be a mistake in the user manual for the RM-983. Looks like someone just copied and pasted the bands for GSM over to the bands listed under WCDMA. It really should be WCDMA 850, 900, 1900, 2100. In the SAR Test Report for the RM-983, it even says: In addition, no one has...

    Lumia 830 sensors

It should have one. According to the Windows Phone Dev Center, if a device includes a gyroscope, then it must include a magnetometer as well. https://dev.windowsphone.com/en-US/OEM/docs/Phone_Bring-Up/2.8__Sensors

Which 830 to buy for AT&T?

re: Band 4 is the same. Sometimes people call it 1700 and other times 1700/2100, but they're referring to the same set of frequencies. Also, I'm not sure how it could be the T-Mobile version if it's missing WCDMA Band 4.

    My last commitment to Windows

Don't these statements contradict each other?

    My last commitment to Windows

That won't exactly work in the US, Verizon and Sprint won't activate devices that aren't sold by them (meaning devices that aren't Verizon or Sprint branded, doesn't matter if it's compatible or not, they don't care). That leaves AT&T and T-Mobile. For the rest of the world, don't they already...

    Cyan and LTE

I have the same problem. I have an AT&T 920 that I flashed to the Euro Dev ROM via the Rogers Pre-Portico ROM a long time ago. I flashed it to the RM-820 Global Swap ROM just because I was curious what it was, then went to the UK CV ROM and realized I no longer have LTE. Flashed the Euro Dev ROM...

    App Idea: Destop Text Messaging

I think there's something like that for Android called MightyText. That's because Android allows other apps to access your text messages/replace the default messaging app. It's rumored that in WP8.1 you'll be able to replace your default messaging app, so maybe an app like this may be possible...

Screen wakes up intermittently? Is this common?

I have this problem too on my 920. I'm surprised I can't find any other reports about this--I guess it's not a common problem. Is there any way we can tell Nokia so they can fix it?
