Not to talk down on Android but i have had similar experiences on Android where only a Hard Reset would fix things. So it's not like this thing is W10M exclusive.

As said before they just start optimizing for the new devices first, which is why the 550, 950, 950XL get it first. So after the november release of those devices they still have some time to optimise the firmwares and OS for all older devices that get the update.

Haven't ran into any issues yet on my Lumia 930. Upgrade went smoothly without a hard reset (from 10166) and performance seems to have improved a bit more. Also the device seems to stay a bit cooler during 'casual' tasks now.

There's nothing official yet, but my guess is when the Lumia 950 gets released, so end of september/early October (the date is still a rumor though).
