    Which netbooks are your buying?

I bought a Dell Mini 10 (not 10v). Maxed out with - 250 Gb HDD - 2 Gb RAM - Windows Vista (Bleh, immediately upgrades to Windows 7) - Dual-boot to JoliCloud (netbook-optimised Linux) - FANTASTIC 1366x768 screen. Blows away any other 10 inch screen. - 6 cell battery - good for 6 - 8 hours...

    Any Progress on Android Driver?

Good question - and I'd like to know the answer - and get on the beta trials. I abandoned Windows Mobile a little while ago. Now my wife and I are e three phone family - iPhone, Nokia N97 and an Android Behold II. Drivers for any of these would be sweet ;-)

    Network socket

I can't remember the last time I wanted or needed to connect my laptop to a nework via ethernet. For at least 6 or 7 years I've either used wireless or tethered to my cell phone.

Redfly and Android.. Can't Come Too Soon

Exactly! But the *perception* has been spread that there's oodles of money to be made because we only hear about the big sellers. Just like the *perception* of the iPhone [though only in the USA, everywhere else knows better] is that it is "the most advanced phone on the planet" ... which is...

New Beta Mobile Viewer and Phone Drivers - build 192

Installed it. At first blush, seems to work fine with Samsung Blackjack II. Graphics seem very slightly quicker ... or is that my imagination? network passthrough - I thought I had that workig in the last version too??

Redfly and Android.. Can't Come Too Soon

most of the iPhone apps are crap - Pull My Finger, Bouncing Boobies, Tip Calulator etc ... there are apps for *everything - and, IMHO, most of them are silly toys that do stuff we can already do easily in other ways. Yet, crap or not, the only way you can market an app is if Apple approves it...

Redfly and Android.. Can't Come Too Soon

"But I believe I've read that Nokia keeps it locked up pretty tight." Not really. Apple has the tightest grip on their hardware and software of all the phone OSs. My personal opinion has been that Windows Mobile and Symbian are the most open systems - although arguably Androis is surely more...

Redfly and Android.. Can't Come Too Soon

I think Symbian is a much better target. Nokia might not have the emotional excitement attache to it that the iPhone has, but Nokia blows iPhone out of the water on volume sales. Blackberry, Symbian and Windows Mobile all have much larger business presence than iPhone, and the business user is...

Redfly and Android.. Can't Come Too Soon

Why Vista? Go for Windows 7! Dell's Mini 10 now has a 1366x768 screen option, and 6 cell battery touting 5 hours (?) or so life. But it costs about $600 fully specced. I agree with your issues from a *consumer* perspective, but they do not override the beauty of the Redfly from a business...

Redfly and Android.. Can't Come Too Soon

Windows mobile has always been a full, if slightly tacky and under-exciting, computing OS. I laughed at the excitement yesterday over the great new features on the iPhone - copy/paste, turn-by-turn navigation, voice control and more. All of which have been available in Pocket PC for years. The...

    Redfly to be copied?

Old news (February). As is the 'news' about a similar device for an iPhone, and that turned out to be simply a design concept.

Redfly and VGA (will it be addressed?)

There's a difference between supporting newer phones at the existing resolution of the Redfly screen, and adding additional graphics processing facilities. If you want scaled 1024x800 or whatever to display on the Redfly, you either need more processing on the Redfly itself (no hardware upgrades...

Redfly and VGA (will it be addressed?)

So the Mobile Viewer can do higher resolutions: but the Redfly has a fixed number of pixels and the processing to compress 1024x600 or whatever back down to 800x480 is fairly significant. I think it's great that everybody keeps asking for more features for the Redfly (I've done it too!), but...

    E71x Support

Yeah but there are more Nokia phones in the world than any other. There's plenty of phones already out there that could take advantage of 'current' drivers for quite a while. I think Celio Corp is maybe looking too closely at the US market (few Nokia phones oin the market, relatively speaking)...

    Windows 7 support?

Correct - but the revised installer has the same version number as the 'previous' one too, if I remember correctly. So if you downloaded it in the last couple of weeks you should be using the most recent version. Sorry I don;t have anything more useful to suggest.
