    Remove PIN organisation requirements

I can't imagine much simpler than a 4-digit PIN. But my suspicion is that once the "flag" is set in the phone, only a hard reset will clear it. But if you do a Restore after the reset, you may very well be setting that flag again.

GPS on Waze Not Working Since Last Night's Update

I don't use Waze often, but I just fired it up and it had an instant GPS lock. Brad.

    Broken 950xl...PLEASE HELP!

Check eBay for the screens. Usually the decent prices are from Asia and will take four to six weeks to arrive. But there are sometimes North American sources. YouTube has a bunch of videos on how to dismantle and do other major repairs. It's not for the feint of heart, and you go into it with...

Outlook adding extra characters to password ?

How do you know the password has changed, since you can't read it back. You're not just going by the number of stars in the password field, are you? Because that's not an accurate reflection of the real password. The smarter implementations of account screens put in a generic "***" field that...

Build 10.0.14393.448 loses Emergency amber alert settings?

What happens if you enable Quiet Hours? Do these alerts still break through?

    POP Mail Accounts

More detail required. What mail service, and what are the POP (receive) and SMTP (send) server settings? Port, SSL on or off, etc. Basically everything *except* your actual username/password. And I assume you tried deleting and recreating the account in the Mail app? That'd be the first thing to...

Here's one issue with IOS / Android - Outlook

I'm not familiar with the iOS/Android variants of the Outlook app, but there may be other server policies in play. For example, Exchange can (and should!) be set up to require client machines to enable certain security measures. The most common one is requiring the client to have password...

    Harmony elite

As far as interfacing any device with any mobile device, the safe assumption is you're going to need an iThing or Droid. Pretty much nobody makes W10M apps, and the few that do will probably just let them die a slow death (think Insteon Hub). And for devices that have regular Windows apps, like...

    improving hey cortana

I have a different weird Hey Cortana problem on my 950. If I set it to "recognize anybody" option, then like others it false-triggers all the time. Generally useless. If I set to "recognize only me" and go into the training stuff, it gets wacky. It'll ask me to repeat a phrase, and the...

W10M Whatsapp Message Alert Tone Gone After 15063.297 Update

Yeah, CU nuked all of the Alert # tones and added a bunch of crappy-*** "music" ringtones (that I personally despise). A bit of Googling and I found a Zip with all the original tones online, and just reloaded on my phone again. It was a couple of weeks go, and I've misplaced the link I used, but...

    SMS Message Syncing

You're using the Skype Preview, recent builds, on both right? And Skype is set as your Messaging app on the phone? The sync stuff was removed from the stock Messaging app a loooong time ago. MS wants you to use Skype. And it mostly works, just with some minor glitches.

text and notifications from phone to PC no more?

That functionality only exists in Skype Preview. It's gone from the Messaging app, and has been for months. You need the appropriate builds both on your mobile and desktop devices. Once you get that fixed up, it's (mostly) working, though some people complain of various glitches. Brad.

    "send message" is gone!

If she opens a contact in People, is the "Call Mobile" option there, with the mobile number listed? That will at least confirm that the contact has an actual Mobile number in it, eliminating that suspect. Try going into Settings, search for "Contacts" and check the appropriate settings there...

    factory reset microsoft authenticator backup

The two-factor stuff has alternate mechanisms over the Authenticator app. It can SMS you a code, or e-mail you a code. There may even be other ways. When you try to log in (the first time) on a new device/app it will ask for the authenticator code first, but will include a way to select one of...

    Windows 10 Mobile Official/Production: Anniversary Update 14393.1066 (Redstone 1, non-Insider)

I'm having issues with Hey Cortana too (950). Initially it refused to acknowledge me at all, though all other uses of Cortana and voice-to-text work fine. I got that part solved by turning off Hey Cortana, rebooting the phone, then re-enabling Hey Cortana. At least now it reacts. But the...
