I don't know if the tablets can be upgraded to Win10.... With only 16gb of storage, I don't think that's enough to download and install an upgrade... Clean install, sure, but an upgrade? Doubtful.

The source isn't directly from MS.... MS states that the upgrade will retain the rights of the previous installation. If your Win8.1 was a retail edition, then your Win10 will be upgraded to Win10 retail as well. The OEM is only if you're upgrading from an OEM.

A couple of points: Win8.1 Enterprise qualifies you for Win10, but when the IT department that gave you Win8.1 is ready to deploy it. Win10 insider preview is free, but it can expire... The question is, did you computer come with Windows preinstalled? If yes, which one? If it did, then...

This is a Dell laptop that came with Win8.1 Home edition preinstalled. The beginning of the end is near!

I wonder how this'll affect computers that included Windows. It's hardcoded into my laptop my product key for Win 8.1 OEM - DELL. I assumed that MS would simply allow me to clean install to Win10 for free?

I tried it on my laptop last month, and I went back to Win8.1. While it's great for a beta, it's still a beta. Very few things felt the same or faster... I'll be waiting until vendors released official drivers for Win10 before I install it on my primary laptop.

They're using weak chargers. Like Tsang Fair mentioned, you need to use the right charger. This is universal with all USB charging devices. The more power it consumes, the stronger the charger will have to be. It's like trying to charge an iPad with an iPhone charger..... Very very slow...

Traditionally, it takes MS about 7 weeks from RTM to releasing to the public. If public release is July 31st (just took the last day of the month) then we're looking at Win10 hitting RTM mid June.

A little unfaoir to compare the MBP to the Surface 3. A better comparison is the MBA, but if you omit the touch/pen, the MBA is cheaper when you consider the keyboard. The surface 3 is truly a niche device...

I highly doubt it will be fanless. The new chips will dissipate heat a bit more than the current atom Pentium chips, and those come with a fan...
