i had similar problems with the lock screen as well. in my case the behavior got worse; apps started activating on their own as if someone was pressing the screen. i had to send mine back for repair because the diagnosis was a bad digitizer... hopefully, you don't have the same issue i did.

if you're willing to side-load an app, someone at Xda developers has patched the LG version to work on any WP7 device. it's decent, e.g. get's the job done, but you can't invoke it from the keyboard like you can with Android. as far as i can tell, it allows you to dictate memos, emails...

i'm using the Telstra HTC 7 Mozart - which only has the 850 3G band - and my reception experience has been consistent with my at&t nexus one (with both 3G bands), e.g., no dropped calls in areas with a good signal.

had a similar volume issue on my HTC 7 Mozart. i amplified the volume on my favorite ringtone, alarm and alerts and used the Chevron tools to sideload back to the phone. huge difference now. not my preferred method to address the problem, but it will suffice for now.
