Looks like my surface 3 just got a firmware update today. I assume this will probably have the updated intel drivers, along with other updates. I'm installing it now.

I'm seeing this same thing after doing the Anniversary Update now for 2 days now. I just rebooted again today. The message disappeared and Windows Update shows that it is up to date now. Hopefully, it will stop showing the "restart required" message. Everything appears to be working fine...

I found the solution. Add this parameter to the end of the command that opens chrome in your shortcut (outside of the quotes): --disable-usb-keyboard-detect Restart chrome, and now the virtual keyboard should pop up when you touch text entry locations.

There was a touchscreen bug that was fixed with a patch. Here is the link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3128580 Is this the problem you are seeing? I had this exact problem and I swore it was hardware related. But it was fixed with this update and I don't see the problem anymore.

I really hope this gets fixed. Chrome is unusable in tablet mode without the popup virtual keyboard. I would love to use Edge, but I need it to support extensions before I can commit to using it. I can't live without LastPass and adBlock.

If this is going to be your main PC for the next 4-5 years, I personally would recommend getting the Surface Pro 4 8/256. I know it is much more expensive than a Surface 3, but it will serve you much better as a primary PC. I would definitely go for 8 GB of RAM if you are planning to use it...
