    app gap?

So, out of this top list of apps: 20% are not available at all (even if you don't use them or if the OS has some functionality that serves as a substitute) 30% are substituted by third party apps, which regardless of quality, are a security risk. 50% are lower quality/functionality fist party...

I keep coming back to Windows Phone

I haven't fully left, since a Lumia Icon is still my secondary and seldom used phone. I wanted to use it for entertainment/music/movies, but it has been left behind and now I only use it to catch up with a couple whatsapp groups/contacts that don't have my main phone (an iPhone). I like...

The end of the road for me? Nokia Icon seems to be bricked after update

It got stuck on the Verizon screen for minutes the first few times, between restarts, and then I decided to wait, it was 45 minutes. There was something wrong, but at least the recovery tool was able to fix it. Now it even feels faster than prior to the update.

The end of the road for me? Nokia Icon seems to be bricked after update

Ok, against my expectations, the recovery worked. Sure, I lost everything I had on the phone, but at least it's not a brick anymore. It seems like there's still a bit of life on this Icon.

The end of the road for me? Nokia Icon seems to be bricked after update

Well, losing all of my settings. Again. Having to install everything... Again. WTF. They really know how to treat the few customers they have left. I'm really mad right now, almost hoping that the Recovery Tool doesn't do its job.

The end of the road for me? Nokia Icon seems to be bricked after update

Phone tried to do an update today (already on Windows 10 Mobile), and after the gears screen advanced a lot, now all I get is the Windows Icon and then the Verizon red screen and that's it. It's not booting up. I already did a soft reset (several times) If this can't be easily fixed, then...

    Is it worth the wait?

Not only the speed (my Icon lags a lot when loading apps), but the basic functionality. I can't get any consistency with even basic stuff like Bluetooth, wireless charging or even notifications. The OS probably does more than the 8.1 version, but that one was at least effective.

    Is it worth the wait?

Frankly, it's not. I still have my icon, but I never use it anymore. The icon has my second line but I just call-forward everything to my main phone (an iPhone) and most times I don't even remember to charge it. I really like WM's look&feel, but it's really frustrating, especially when...

Buy a new Lumia, or wait, or jump ship?

Windows 10 Mobile is already dead. We've had great hardware in the past (my Icon still holds its own and frankly I like it better than my newer iPhone), but it doesn't matter if we don't have the killer apps. Windows 10 on ARM would be a completely new OS, that will have to start from scratch...

    So... I killed my Icon

Because of the camera. The Icon's camera is just great and I use it all the time at my work and family events. I got another one from eBay, for just $100 with a cracked back case. The phone is in fine shape and I just replaced the back case with the one I already had.

    So... I killed my Icon

My Icon had a cracked screen, so I sourced one from eBay (those are expensive BTW). Since it is my secondary phone, I decided to replace it myself. I managed to get into the board and everything, changed the screen, but while installing the new one I applied too much pressure on it and...

Does it matter to YOU if Microsoft Mobile dies (or is dead)

so the only defense left is to argue semantics and the meaning of the word "dead"... This is really where we are.

Does it matter to YOU if Microsoft Mobile dies (or is dead)

I don't get this. Of course we care, even if we are not employees or have a financial stake. Why I care: 1. I like the platform and I want to see it grow and succeed. Microsoft might still be (barely) working on it, but without new users the platform will never be attractive to independent...

(Deja Vu) Palm all over again?

It might not be more convenient, but it could be more cost effective. A mobile phone + a dock and a keyboard/mouse are less expensive than a phone + a laptop. If continuum works correctly with windows apps, meaning that they can use a full desktop that's basically the same as a laptop desktop...

(Deja Vu) Palm all over again?

At the current stage, I don't think even the current popular apps would save the platform. We could get Snapchat and whichever popular apps that are available today, and at most they would prevent some people from jumping ship, but I don't see how they could convince anyone to leave iOS or...
