Hey, I have the same, exact problem on mine. It came up after an update (forgot which one). Guessing it's a software thing :/

This has happened since I first got the phone about a year ago. It's a Lumia 920, since then I've got the Preview for Developers, latest updates etc. Plug in to charge, eventually I want to send/reply a text so I type a text with everything normal but once I press SEND, the options grey out...
