I think they made a statement about not releasing another yet. The first one was released in 2015. The second 2019. My guess would be 2022 at the earliest with a slight modification to add in the share button or 2023 to follow the 4 year pattern.

If it's brand new, I'd say yes. They are normally $180 through Microsoft and most stores in the U.S.. I've purchased 4 or 5 Elite 2. I am very rough with it and drop them a lot. I do have warranty on 2 of them, but have purchased new ones since the beginning of the pandemic.
