Good news - the staff at Carphone Warehouse in Crewe have solved the problem - once the device was turned off and then on again the email accounts no longer appeared greyed out. Silly me not to have tried it myself :blush:.

No, they weren't syncing - they are greyed out all the time.

Thank you but no use, I'm afraid ... I didn't rename the linked inbox - I kept the name 'linked inbox'. Unfortunately I don't have the option to delete the email accounts - they are greyed out under the email settings. :confused:

Thank you - unfortunately they are gone from my app list as well as the home screen. They are still somewhere on the device, because if I tried to add one of the email accounts again, I am told I cannot do so as it already exists.:-(
