The Surface Duo is Windows Phone all over again

There are some .... interesting rewrites of history going on here, Windows Mobile was promoted pretty well at first with the 7 devices and then even more when 8 & 8.1 came out and Microsoft and the OEM (Nokia) did promote it. It reached a certain level of success in quite a few markets, but not...

Microsoft Launcher update causes chaos and frustration for some users

MY SD1 had this issue after the latest update.. So how could I get a working launcher again as I only have the default Microsoft Launcher installed? Pull down the notification shade and go into settings. Go into apps and scroll down to the Google Play Store and launch it. Search for Microsoft...

    Lumia 950 / XL : Incredibly unreliable?

They are old now, but that does seem strange to have reboots on all 4. Can you try a burner sim card from a completely different network to see if that might be the problem?

Apple's AR Vision Pro headset isn't the HoloLens competitor I thought it was going to be

Given the price of this headset and the current uses available for it I can't see it being used outside business. Cheaper headsets are being used more in gaming - look at one of the Occulus headsets, it's sold as many as the latest gen XBox. But why would I need to spend money on one of these...

    Future surface Duo phones.

Well, we can't say "this is never going to happen" but given what Android can do on phones this isn't going to happen for the foreseeable future. A phone running windows would have zero chance currently. No apps would be optimised for it and that's the key for phones.

How do you pocket (carry) your phones?

Being a man maybe makes a difference as we tend to be bigger and have bigger pockets. I can easily manage to carry my Pixel 6 Pro in one jeans pocket and my Duo in the other. You ladies will have to just put yours in a handbag.

Time to Re-Introduce the Windows Phone - 2022

It's quite simple. Microsoft are not going to release a new OS for phones or a modified version of W11 for phones. That isn't going to happen. And as for the idea of reintroducing W10M or the even older WP8.1, well that's just crazy. Microsoft now have there full suite of apps and services...

How much is Windows Phone alive, as of today?

The windows version of the Duo becamevthe Duo 1 - an Android phone. The Duo 2 (3, 4 etc.) will be Android as well. Forget about the Duo if you want windows.

This PC can't run Windows 11

I think this is a wise comment! Things will likely change before the OS goes live to all.

    Win Phone Lover Disappointed

Why blame Nadella? Ballmer screwed up Windows on Phones and left a dying system.

Who is still using a Windows Phone? Honest Question.

I have a Lumia 650 as a second device but it plays second fiddle to my Nokia 8.

Can we expect Surface phone on MWC 2018? If no,then when can we expect?

I don't see them releasing something that isn't ground breaking. They have had too many fails just to release another "phone" so this new device has to be good, innovative and create it's own niche. That does not guarantee success though, the market will decide that.

Can we expect Surface phone on MWC 2018? If no,then when can we expect?

There will never be a Surface phone. A pocketable Surface device with cellular connectivity will come Q1 2019. If it come earlier then great but Q4 2018 is about as early you can expect. Lets hope OEMs jump on and deliver some competing devices to drive the market.

Best android alternative to Lumia 950

Avoid Samsung and LG if you want a decent software experience. The OnePlus 5 (and soon to be released 5T) are decent phones and won't drive you nuts. The Nokia 8 is very similar. If updates and camera are the key things then look no further than the Pixels. A first gen XL would do the job...

    Lumia 650 a tribute

Well I would argue about Android's "flakiness and inconsistencies" but ... that's your opinion. Android won because what else was there in 2008 for manufacturers to use to compete with Apple. Win Mo was powerful but not suited to the new form factors, Symbian similar. Android was being...
