Solution: I downloaded a US English keyboard. Not only has this solved the issue of the badly apostrophised words in the UK English version, it also now automatically capitalises the first-person singular "I" . Result!

I have to say that I'm finding the Windows 8 dictionary unspeakably irritating. After resetting the dictionary in desperation, words like "that 'd" (note the incorrect space) still cannot be changed to its correct form "that'd". This is shoddy work on the part of MS. I can only imagine that...

Makes perfect sense! ;) I'm having the same issue on my Nokia Lumia 920. If I try and add "that'd" to my dictionary, it doesn't bring up the "+that'd" like it should, nor does it even list the word in its suggestions. Stupid phone! :angry:
