The Surface Studio is dead? — Microsoft ends production on $4,500 Surface Studio 2+ as stock dwindles

I really wish they would release a Surface Studio Display. Give it a 120Hz VRR panel and connect via USB 4.0 to make it into a future proof device that works with Surfaces and other laptops and it'd be an instant buy even if was the same price as the full PC. There's nothing else like it on the...

Microsoft will put the next Call of Duty on Xbox Game Pass, reveal planned for Games Showcase

While I get that, I think Call of Duty being on Game Pass would draw in a lot more subscriptions. They only need 4 months of subscription to make it break even assuming a 1 to 1 conversion of all buyers to subscribers. I assume a ton of people will still buy it, but for those that are on the...

Microsoft's latest Copilot coercion forced me through the five stages of grief over the death of the Windows 11 desktop

I think the answer is pretty obvious. There's a reason they're the most valuable company in the world right now.

The secret behind the Windows 11 Copilot key is that it isn't a new key at all

I'm honestly fine with the Copilot key, but I will be severely pissed off if they drop the notification tray in favor of summoning Copilot via swipe in from the right. I'm still salty that they changed swiping in from the left from multitasking to the [totally useless] widgets menu. The world...

Microsoft unveils business-focused Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 with Intel Core Ultra, new NPUs, and display upgrades

I don't think we'll actually see as significant of redesign as is being hyped. Nobody has even bothered to report on the fact that the Pro 10 has rounded corners on the screen (something that was rumored for the consumer/ARM version). At this rate, I think the only difference between the...

Age of Empires 4 is getting cross-play on Xbox consoles and Windows PC

Any word on Cross Platform Cloud saves? I honestly thought that they would have added that when they first launched the Xbox versions. It's a first party Xbox hame, so it should have been Xbox Play Anywhere as soon as it launched on Xbox.

EXCLUSIVE: Microsoft will unveil OLED Surface Pro 10 and Arm Surface Laptop 6 this month ahead of major Windows 11 AI update

OLED over Mini LED is an interesting choice for a productivity device Higher power consumption (in a device that already had pitiful battery life), lower brightness, decreasing brightness over time, and the risk of static image burn in a la the taskbar. We'll see

Switching from Windows 11 to Linux or Mac always gets attention, so why not when it's in reverse?

Yeah, I exclusively use Windows on my daily drivers. The only thing I run native Linux on are my home server (obviously) and Raspberry Pi.

Microsoft postpones Surface Go 4 with ARM, plans minor refresh with Intel N200 instead

The chicken and egg problem of ARM support and ARM devices continues. My mind is still blown that they opted to release an ARM powered Surface Pro before a Surface Go.

Is it time to move on from Surface Duo?

It was time to give up on the Duo before it even launched. The future was clear as soon as Samsung launched the Fold. Folding screens, for all their current shortcomings, will be a superior user experience because of the flexibility they offer. Want two screens? Cool, build in native snapping...

Microsoft Edge is about to go dark, but not in the same way as Reddit

It would be great if Microsoft eventually rolls this out to the stable version. In addition to looking better in general, it will look even better on OLED and Mini LED panels, not to mention the power savings associated with true blacks on those.

Microsoft will replace Windows 11's terrible Mail & Calendar apps with the new Outlook app in 2024

You forgot lack of offline support! It literally can't even open to let you see cached emails without an internet connection.

Starfield was never going to be 60FPS on Xbox consoles, and for good reason

I understand that CPU is probably the limitation here. It's still ********. Both Series X and S support VRR. Uncap the framerate, lock the minimum to 30 and let the max float. Todd said they locked it at 30fps for consistency even though it often could run at 60fps. I don't care about...

Starfield will be locked to 30 FPS on Xbox. Todd Howard explains why.

I'm just gonna say it. This is some ********. We have variable refresh rate; uncap the framerate. I have a 4K120 Hz TV with VRR and I would rather play it at 1080p60 than 4K30 any day of the week, as would many seasoned gamers.
