    Can't completely remove Windows.old directory

I had about 200KB of driver files left in Windows.old and I could not delete them. I booted to my Macrium Reflect USB drive and clicked on the small Explorer icon at the bottom of the screen and deleted the Windows.old folder.

Anyone had success with Win10 on the Dell Venue 8 Pro?

After some unsuccessful upgrade attempts, I restored the factory image. Ran the mediacreation tool to do an inplace upgrade. After the upgrade, I deleted the original recovery partition, moved the new recovery partition to the end of the drive and extended the C drive to about 29GB in size...

Would it be ridiculous to cancel my Surface 3 preorder for an Acer Aspire Switch 10?

I have both the Acer Switch 10 SW5-012 and the Asus T100 Chi both in 64GB versions. I got the Switch during Christmas for $299 and the Chi recently for $449. I love both devices. The Chi has a brighter higher resolution screen that supports an active stylus. I use the Dell A03 rev pen. The...

Asus T100 Chi or Surface 3?

Here is a review excerpt I found on Amazon. ASUS has blown me away with this tablet/mobile dock keyboard combo! I have a Microsoft Surface Pro and I really didn't expect this Transformer to be able to match the quality build the Surface has but I was completely wrong. .... The keyboard is...

Asus T100 Chi or Surface 3?

The build quality of the Asus T100 Chi is far above that of the T100TA's. There is no comparison. I have tried out the Acer Switch, the T100TA, the Lenovo Yoga 10, the Dell Venue 8 Pro, and the cheap HP Stream 7. The Chi is better than the lot of them. The feel of the device is exceptional...

Dell Venue 8 Pro Recovery Partitions

If you have a WinRE.wim file and the WIMBoot procedure, you can build a WIMBooted Windows with a recovery option. It will recover to the state of the Windows that you started the WIMBoot procedure. It will build a new compressed recovery partition.

    WIMboot DVP8

You can fake out the simplified procedure by creating a dummy file named WinRE.wim and copying it to the USB Images folder. The procedure will skip building a Win 8.1 U1 of that file and will WIMBoot your current C: drive. You will not be able to use Windows 8.1 recovery but if you save the...

    Surviving With A 32GB Model

To gain more space, the WIMBoot option of Windows 8.1 update 1 gave me an extra 12GB of space on my 5 month old DV8P with my data and software. I have 18 GB free now.

    WIMboot DVP8

The revised WIMBoot guide has a procedure that seems to work on a normal Windows installation including installed software and Metro apps. I used this on my 5 month old DV8P tablet and all of the apps worked. I did not have to re-install anything. See: Simplified WIMBoot Dell Venue 8 Pro...
