the volume button doesn't seem to work when I put my tablet into sleep, any solutions?

I'm currently using a debranded&flashed go phone (ROM is RM-975_1043 US Country Variant) I'd like to know whether the ROM I'm using will receive Update 2 in the near future. If not, would you suggest me a ROM that receives updates faster & is unbranded? And I find it odd that the AT&T post-paid...
