Automatic, but choosing other options doesn't make a difference.

I get that mms needs data, but by mms apn you're limiting it to only access the mms proxy. Its just odd that even with no configuration specified data still works, meaning no apn what so ever. This does appear to be either something controlled via the carrier and possible programmed into the sim.

521 is running on ptel (t-mobile mvno), 520 on AT&T. I put the ptel sim in my 520 and have the same issue, so it appears to not be a phone issue. Not sure if the sim can force such settings?

I am trying to disable data but keep mms active on a Lumia 521, but oddly not matter what I configure within the APN the data connection remains. I tried similar on my Lumia 520 and it worked as expected. I left the internet apn info blank and only inputed the MMS APN. If someone could try it...
