If you are in the US, go to best buy and get a 640 for 30 bucks. It's a cheap way to get introduced to windows phone (again). It will be an ATT go phone, but go online to ATT and request an unlock code. Do not turn the phone on with the att sim in it if you want it unlocked. If you do you will...

Good luck. Be patient with the update. Mine works fine.

For my 1020 it lasts a full working day after setting glance to 15 min, turning off most background apps and setting a specific time interval for email accounts to check the inbox.

If you are using glance, set to turn off in 15 minutes. Also, change your email setting to check your inbox less frequently.

You may have to use Windows Device Recovery Tool to go back to 8.1 amd then upgrade to .164

Try the Windows Device Recovery Tool. It will roll it back to the original operating system.
