But you have to press Unlock key to get to the Lockscreen if the phone is idle. You're right, EVERY WP should have a Camera button especially when they are touting the imaging capabilities of their phones.

That would need pressing Unlock button, swiping from top and then selecting Camera in Action Center. -3 Steps If there is a swipe gesture on Lockscreen there will be 2 steps required. Don't you think it's a little more convenient?

Now only Lumia 830, 930 have Camera button in x30 series, so there are many phones that do not have Camera button and Microsoft seems to reserve that to high-end phones only. I think it would be great to have a swipe gesture or something like that on the Lockscreen for opening Camera app. Like...
