What are you doing without USB-C?

Re: What are you doing without usb-C? So don't buy a Surface. There are plenty of other Windows machines that do support Thunderbolt 3 but you have chosen to ignore them because "Windows". You have greater issues than just the fact that Microsoft chose not to include a TB3 port on the latest...

What are you doing without USB-C?

Re: What are you doing without usb-C? That's actually one of the issues Microsoft addressed in their explanation of why the Surface Pro doesn't use USB C. It certainly would be convenient but an SP needs a lot more power than a phone but the sweaty masses don't know that. They would simply plug...

What are you doing without USB-C?

Re: What are you doing without usb-C? Once Microsoft release their Surface Connect to USB C adapter there will be even less to complain about. The only issue then will be the lack of Thunderbolt 3. For those who need TB3, it's lack is a legitimate issue. To you, Microsoft would just say "buy...

    Predictive text

It has undoubtedly changed for the worse. I definitely find myself having to change the selection more often and it's quite regular that the word I want isn't even in the suggestion list when obviously more obscure words are.

    Gestures Beta App

I just joined the Fast ring on my Lumia 950 XL and installed build 14965 and I got two notifications about Gestures Beta when the phone started up. I was upgrading from the latest Production build. There was a place-holder for the icon in the popup and there was no notification in Action...

W10M Insider Preview 14379 Discussion (Redstone Branch, Inactive)

Re: W10M Insider Preview 14379 Discussion (Redstone Branch, Fast Ring) Waaaaah! iOS looks so good because it doesn't have the bugs in it that a beta build of Windows 10 Mobile does that I didn't have to install but chose to even after Microsoft specifically stated it would contain bugs...

Rant : What is your Plan B?

I have no plan B. I'm using a 950 XL now that I got late last year. I plan on upgrading to whatever Microsoft release in 2017, immediately if it's really good or when my current phone is two years old otherwise. I'll stick with Windows 10 Mobile until it no longer fulfils my needs. I'm not...

    Is windows mobile really dying?

The difference is that Blackberry didn't have the business that Microsoft does to weather the tough times. nor did it have the world's most popular desktop OS to help drive development and interest in the platform. While it's not ideal for them, Microsoft can afford for their mobile devices to...

Get out of the Insider Program now...Redstone coming to Slow ring

It boggles my mind. Microsoft recently added the Release Preview ring specifically for people who wanted to stay as up-to-date as possible with Threshold builds but did not want to receive Redstone builds and now there's all these people running around like headless chickens because Microsoft...

Lara Croft: Relic Run Performance Issues on Lumia 950 XL

Woohoo! Updated to version 1.9.93 last night and it appears that the game finally plays the way it should. I think that it's slightly better visually and the frame-rate is now consistently high. There are still a few stutters here and there but there are on Android too. We'll see what things are...

Lara Croft: Relic Run Performance Issues on Lumia 950 XL

Your experience with the 1520 does seem to suggest that it's the game rather than the phone that's the issue. I'm not sure whether that's good or bad, because it means that my 950 XL should still perform well with other apps and games but I'm doomed to suffer a less-than-optimal experience with...

Lara Croft: Relic Run Performance Issues on Lumia 950 XL

Are you talking from the perspective of heat dissipation? I currently have a Mozo backplate (switch between back and brown) but I was using the stock backplate for a while before I received the Mozo ones and things were basically the same. I certainly won't use it as a long-term solution but I...

Lara Croft: Relic Run Performance Issues on Lumia 950 XL

I upgraded from a Lumia 925 to a Lumia 950 XL late last year. One of the things I was looking forward to was improved performance when playing Lara Croft: Relic Run, which is a favourite game. Things have improved, with 3D performance being significantly better, but framerates vary significantly...

Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 10586.107 available now

I've not had battery life issue on any previous build but .107 seems to burn through the battery on both my 925 and 950 XL. I'll run some tests but it looks like the battery drains at least 10% an hour when the phone is locked and no apps running.

Real reasons for purchasing the Lumia 950/XL?

Before I got my current 950 XL, every phone I had ever owned had been from Nokia. My first phone was a 5110 and my last non-Lumia was an E7. I was very happy with the phones I had at the time. When it came time to replace my E7, Nokia were full-swing into Windows Phone and I didn't see any...
