    Windows 8.1

The Skydrive desktop app has been discontinued for Windows 8.1 in favor of the Metro app. You can still access all of your files through Explorer (Skydrive link is on the left sidebar).

    Windows 8.1 Preview for RT

I was having a bunch of issues with the Preview (I did a simple upgrade from 8.0), but then I decided to do a full restore (wipe everything) when I noticed a bunch of random errors in Event Viewer and that has solved the vast majority of my problems. No more Wi-Fi issues, no more glitchy apps...

    8.1 to Surface next month?

According to some reports, Surface users should be seeing the update at the start of September, which is only a few weeks after RTM. I've been loving the 8.1 Preview overall, so I'm very excited that the final build could be coming so soon!

I provided this answer (located on the second page). Here's the quote:

    Windows 8.1 Preview for RT

If I recall correctly, before it was changed, the Preview update page stated that there was no ISO available for RT devices. The only way to get the Preview for an RT device is through the Windows Store.

Your Thoughts on the Windows 8.1 Preview

I'm having the same experience. Lots of jittery scrolling in metro apps. The typing lag in Internet Explorer for something like this Response is almost unbearable. I am literally sitting here watching the words appear on my screen in slow motion.

    Windows 8.1 lacking Messages app?

Looks like it's gone but to be honest it doesn't bother me. I never really liked it and would never stay disconnected from Facebook despite repeatedly changing the setting.

    Windows 8.1 Preview for RT

Also available is the ability to change the default save location or things like music, videos, and pictures. Go into PC settings --> PC & devices --> Devices and a the bottom you'll find the option to change it to the SD card. I'd like to add that app loading is pretty much instantaneous...

    Windows 8.1 Preview for RT

To get the Preview, you have to download a small file from Microsoft's site. After you install that, then your computer/tablet will restart, and then you will be prompted to download the update from the Windows Store.

    Windows 8.1 Preview for RT

I just wanted to confirm, after running Disk Cleanup, I now have a total of 16GB free. When I started the preview update, I had a little over 12GB free. This means that the 8.1 Preview takes up LESS space than 8.0 does, to the tune of 4-5GB less.

    Windows 8.1 Preview for RT

This is incorrect. You need 10GB free for the installation, but by no means does it take up the full amount of space. I just finished installing the 8.1 Preview on my 32GB Surface RT. Before the installation, I had a little over 12GB free. After the install, I had 14.4GB free. I just checked...

    Windows 8.1 Preview for RT

Has anybody installed this on their Surface RT yet? I want to give it a try, but I want to make sure it's doesn't make my tablet unusable as a daily driver.

Google Calendar no longer syncs with Surface Calendar after app update?

It's not entirely Microsoft's fault, Google is the one that dropped support for EAS (Exchange ActiveSync). Though Microsoft has known this was coming for some time, so I'm surprised they didn't include CalDAV support in the Calendar update.

    New Surface RT Firmware

I used to frequently experience the Wi-Fi limited connectivity problem on my Surface and it would be infuriating as it would happen quite randomly (working perfectly one second, I switch to a different app, and it stops working, so I have to toggle Airplane mode on and off to get it working...
