Microsoft AI CEO says Copilot will evolve into a companion and 'real friend' despite backlash from concerned users: "It tries to be my friend when...

When I ask anyone/anything a fact-based question, I expect an answer that isn't embellished or followed by a question that solicits information from me. Here's a great example: I asked "What's the tallest tree in America?" Bing: "Hyperperion, according to two sources." It then showed the...

How do you use your Surface, as a Laptop or a Tablet?

Mostly as a laptop, but not on my lap. While the SP may have a somewhat compromised lapability, it has fantastic touch stability. This is thanks to its screen being supported at two points: at the bottom, where the keyboard connects, and half-way up the screen, where the hinge connects...

Can't send text messages without rebooting

I have the SMS send problem, too. It started right after the current fast ring build. I'm eagerly awaiting the next update.

Problem with phone calls when using dual sim?

I believe that all MMS uses the data network while all SMS uses the voice network. Let's assume that Sim1 is your data SIM. When you send an MMS from line 2, the data packets go out on thee only network available (i.e., from Sim1) to the MMS servers on the network run by the carrier for Sim2...

My concept of a navigation bar and system tray in Windows 10 Mobile that is unified with Windows 10

Well, it has a consistency with non-Mobile Windows. The mobile status bar has a lot more icons than you show. The design would either need lots more room at the right or would need to use the Windows tray convention of an arrow to access the other icons. In a weird way, it this is a bit more...

Microsoft is degrading their flagship Lumia devices!

This works for Windows 10 apps, but not for older WP7/WP8 Silverlight apps.

Gorilla glass 4??? Unverified by corninggorillaglass.com

I'm pretty sure that there was an early rumor that they would be QC2, but that in truth they are not. They do charge faster than older Lumias, but that's because of USB-C charging. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB#Power The Microsoft power adapter is 5V 3A only. The Quick Charge adapters...

    Dual Sim vs Single Sim

I don't want this to turn into a fight, but I do want to push back a bit more on what we each wrote. I think that the number of folks with multiple lines is far higher than that and that the idea of consolidating two lines in one device is something that the vast majority of people have never...

    Dual Sim vs Single Sim

Well then, it's good that Microsoft didn't ask just one person what to do. I need two phone numbers and I don't want to carry two phones all of the time. I seldom get voicemail because my phones are with my pretty much always. So, in weighing the convenience of carrying only one phone...

Lumia 950 spare extra usb cable and update to .9

I believe that USB-A-to-C cables max out at 2.4 amps (according to the specs). A USB-C-to-C cable, with the appropriate charger, can give 3.0 amps. That's 25% more power in the same time. 3.0 amps is also what Microsoft's included wall charger provides to the phones.

It's there for Outlook Mail, but it's a bit tougher to activate because the left margin if tighter. It does not appear to be in the Messaging apps.

Back arrow and apps not closing

For what it's worth, I think that it's coincidence combined with the placebo effect. Warning: essay answer below. ;) The main thing that you hear Android users (and some developers) complain about is the limitations in how apps work in WP 7+8 and Windows 8+10. What's really bugging them is...
